cjm
I have an old hammer gun with damascus barrels that i have been trying to get any information on. The gun was made in London by P Sheppard and is in very good condition. I would describe it as a best boxlock demonstrating intricate engraving. Has anyone heard of this manufacturer? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Dave at kelton
Not listed in "British Gunmakers" volume one London so possibly a retailer adding his name to others guns. Good luck with the search.

Mr.C
Be interested to see proof marks, do you have a date for the gun?
Zapp
If it's a hammergun surely it won't be a boxlock, simce that describes a hammerless action type.

clumber
Found a George Sheppard, 54 High St, Taunton, Somerset. 1874-85. Photos of the proof marks and action would be a help to date it.

wymberley
My old eyes can't see too well so I'll stop at Birmingham black powder prooved and then later Birmingham re-proof and even then bow to any correction.

Good luck with the search. There are 3-4 with the surname on page 202, no initial P though
buze
From what I can see it's been nitro proof between 1954 and 1989 in birmingham, but I can't decode the earliest marks... but they have to be before 1870, which looks like a very, very early gun...
