JDog
My wife has a great affinity with the sea. Where that came from I know not. That being the case when the forecast is good we head off to the nearest bit of coast to us which has miles of sand, loads of sand dunes and swathes of Sea buckthorn and Elder just in from the dunes. Come the spring this place will be a birders heaven. These shots were taken on my phone. Edited February 7, 2018 by JDog
Clodhopper
Did you get your tide timing right?
Scully
Looks fabulous. We can travel to Morecambe in less than an hour, but one of our favourite beaches is at Allenby, on the west coast just south of Silloth, which is a very nostalgic area for me. We can sit in the Landrover and eat fabulous fish and chips from The Codfather chippy right on the beach front, then walk them off with our Lab’ which goes nuts on the massive beach, and retrieving sticks from the surf. Huge skies.

Clodhopper
That is a shame. Still, its a beautiful place to be.

Scully, never let your dog chase sticks even in the sea. If they pick the stick up by one end and the other end hits the ground/beach the stick goes straight down their throat often with fatal consequences or a very high vet's bill. Vic. Although I live beside what is called , the golden sands , I don't think our beach is a patch on Holkham or Wells , an area I never get tired of . Blackpowder
Miles of sandy beaches in north northumberland and a great pleasure to walk throughout the year but winter is extra special. Blackpowder

saab6110
Hi Jdog, Have you tried Theddle Thorpe near Mablethorpe, we walk the dogs there quite a lot. Lots of space and few people even in summer.

TriBsa
Great pictures JDog. Like the one of the sand. There's something about a surface with no human footprints on, fresh snow is the same. Bet it was cold.
Scully
Port Seaton or Cockenzie is possibly the longest beach I’ve been on. My kids and our Border used to love it; goes on for miles seemingly. There is another in a little cove off Carrick. Have to agree that deserted beaches in the early hours are best.
