For4Bore
Hello all again, been having recurring thoughts about getting a 3 shot pump for some rough shooting (and for fun on clays) and im not looking to spend a fortune on a pump as if i dont like it or get on with it i can move it on. The one that has caught my eye is the Winchester SXP less than £400 new and in a 28" barrel, now im a firm believer of you pay for what you get but are these worth looking at or not? For4Bore
I take it you were not a fan then Kraai?? Any bad points to it? Jamming? Or anything else?
countryman
I don't know about the Winchester but I have just brought a Benelli supernova for a bit more than your budget and it really is faultless. I went for the 26 inch and I am shooting full choke in it which is a first for me.
Guest cookoff013
i`ve a supernova, and they are pretty good. saying that i havent handled that many pumps. they only one i`d consider would be the mossberg 500.

Smokersmith
I took Chris Green out with his, and he spent more time with it in bits, than shooting.
kennett
Weird, I get on with mine really well. Shoot well with it and it has never let me down, even when it's plastered in slime on the marsh. It's had 3.5" goose loads through and also plenty of high brass game cartridges. Duckandswing
I’ve had mine for three years and it’s been faultless. Needs racking quite aggressively otherwise it sometimes doesn’t eject a spent cartridge, but otherwise it’s all good.
kennett
Just now, Duckandswing said: I’ve had mine for three years and it’s been faultless. I find that if I'm not holding it properly, like wrong handed out of the truck window it spits the cartridge out halfway by its own inertia (I think it's sold as some sort of quick load thing) but always ejects fine if I do my bit! Aye that’s it. I think the cartridge is meant to send the bolt partially back so it can cycle quicker. Not sure when I’d need that extra millisecond of speed to be fair. impala59
There are loads of pumps out there, tried and trusted for a quarter of your budget. Try Wabbitbosher he's usually got some good stuff! Having said that, a couple of friends have the SXP and they really like them (made in Turkey I believe) There are serious bargains to be had.......... https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/mitchells/catalogue-id-srmit10043/lot-211b48f2-7a5a-4bf4-9df1-a8b900b1586f?utm_source=auction-alert&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=auction-alert&utm_content=lot-view-link Edited April 10, 2018 by impala59
Lord v
I picked up a weatherby PA-08 a while ago. The SXP was another option. Weatherby was £260 brand new and I can't really fault it. It's performed really well and the only jams have been user error and easily rectified. I have done a more complete write up in the pump club thread above. figgy
A nice Browning BPS for sale in sales section. The SXP is a cheap Turkish made gun, if you read online there are plenty of dissatisfied customers. You pays your money and take a chance. For4Bore
Thank you all for your reply's, that auction website looks rather dangerous for my wallet haha , i will have a look at the weatherby shotguns. If i decide i like them i may even get a FAC one for some practical shotgun shooting thats always looked fun to me.
