no more filth ..on with the engineering............

  • cut the O1 to length
  • drilled out (titanium drill)
  • cut the nib of a sharpie
  • clamped old spring in position
  • traced around

next thing is to grind out slowly to about 0.5mm to the edge and then hand file to a finish shape........

That’s one fiddly job 🤔

thinking it was originally forged and holes punched  ?

drop forged ...........drilled in a jig ...then hand filed          ........as there are very miniscule differences between them........

As one of my old bosses used to say:

JFDI

Just flaming do it - except he didn't say "flaming"

The worst you can do is create a little scrap, and you learn whilst you are doing.

A lot of techniques can be seen on Youtube, although I reckon that Ditchie is of the JFDI persuasion.

Only stuff that’s too fiddly for a digitally challenged person 😉

I'm ok with a 7 lb hammer and tolerance of half a inch  🙄

And you use engineers blue for your eyebrows!

well............bit the bullet and started grinding out the leaf springs.........faced and set the grindstone....and it only took about 20 mins to get it within a 1mm or so....which i will hand file the rest...left the end bits to last as they have to be exact....as they marry up with the back stop of the blades and tools ....(see last pic)...so that will be file ...fit file...fit...file  fit etc until it right....

thats all til tomorrow..:good:
