ditchman
these guns were mass produced...and sold and proberly made by the butcher ....baker ,,,and candlestick maker (and sold by them)....they were for personal protection....nearly on a par with ...fire it and throw it away.......... there are good (expensive versions) of this design around.....but the majority were made to a price
1066
Well just the obvious really - It's a Flint boxlock muff pistol (possibly with folding trigger) from around 1780ish. No idea where it was made.

figgy
Nice metal grip cap, pistol looks to be made to able to be used as a club if shot didn't do the job.
Scully
Much as Ditch says really, unless that name turns out to be Durs/ Egg or Forsyth. 🙂 Missing the top half of its lock.

Yep, amongst others the letter S as caught me out a few times when I was doing my family tree, ("success" becomes "ſucceſs") so it could be another S and not F, perhaps the OP could give us some help? Can you clean the suffice a little and take a close-up picture of the maker name, it could be as Wymberley said the old way of writing the letter S sometimes looks like an F.
