mgsontour
26 minutes ago, Smokersmith said: This Agree but may I add. . . Use the buses as work well and they come every few mins ( download Citymapper app (essential) you also have to buy an Oyster card too ) for a pub to get 'served' at pre match http://www.thedukeofcambridge.co.uk/ is the place the others next to high street are impossible and its a few mins walk so the lazy people won't walk and forget restaurants just eat on the hoof or if peckish then another Guinness should suffice; enjoy!! Vince Green
I'm a member of the RFU and would like to welcome you to the home of Rugby. Local hotels are likely to be fully booked long before. The stadium is in a residential suburb about 10 miles outside central London to the west, the only viable transport link from central London is a train from Waterloo. Avoid central London, it is expensive and quite complicated if you don't understand the transport system There is not a lot around the immediate vicinity of the stadium. A few well known pubs but they will be rammed Kingston on Thames or Richmond (two nearby suburbs) are good recommendations and you can travel to the stadium and back by bus. You can't pay cash on a bus. Oyster card or contactless. If you are flying into Heathrow it greatly depends which terminal you fly into, if its T1, 2 or 3 the X26 bus from the bus station inside the airport will take you to Kingston on Thames for about £1.50 and you avoid getting screwed by the airport taxis which could be more than you paid for your flight. Terminals 4 and 5 are more complicated. Gatwick Airport is not bad, you have to get the train into London, its about 30 miles outside London to the South, then you have to travel out again. Similarly Stanstead is about 40-50 odd miles outside London to the north east. Simply put, avoid Stanstead Cheap flights cost you more than you save to these airports. What ever you book it has to be to Heathrow T1, T2 or T3 realistically. Edited September 2, 2019 by Vince Green
Donkey
Richmond is a good shout there is a travel lodge on the lower mortlake road just a short walk to Richmond there are plenty of pubs in the area including the sun inn a big rugby pub from the Richmond circus roundabout you can get the free bus opposite Richmond and London Scottish rugby grounds to the stadium this also takes you back to Richmond after the game if you would prefer to walk from Richmond down the 316 there is the Turks head pub a good watering hole donkey
