fatchap
Well after lots of polishing, sanding, polishing etc etc. Finally finished another fish knife. And I don't think it looks to shabby. I should hope so its taken long enough. The Blue Juma really catches the light and the scale effect looks pretty good. The nickel silver furniture takes some polishing as well. Specially like this effect.... In its sheath, still not sure about black, blue was WAY TOO MUCH, tried that looked awful. Start another knife now.. Its already embedded in the block when you get it. You can't initially see it and you think you have been mugged off but once you start cutting and sanding it starts to reveal itself. It does however take a hell of a lot of sanding right through the grades before you start polishing, polish too early and all sorts of nasty can be seen. I finished this at 1000 grit and then used Yorkshire Grit for resin, I cannot recommend that stuff enough. It really brings out the shine in resin, and thats even before you start to polish it. Also been working on this one for a fair bit... Wild Olive wood handle, spring steel blade and Iron wood endcap and spacer. After 10 coats of tru oil and plenty more to go while I wait for the Sheath to be made... Very pleased with this one to.
