B725
I did the last cut of the lawn the other day so I decided to find out what was failing with the rear rollers, after stripping it down I found the lugs that engage in the middle of the roller had worn away. To buy all new parts is not viable so I decided to see if I could weld some new lugs on. Having done that they almost fit together just need a little bit of filing. Dont know why they didn't come out in order, but if it all goes back together it will last a few more years hopefully.

But OTOH if that's all that's wrong then why not. Money saved is time well spent. Edited November 7, 2020 by enfieldspares
B725
The engine is perfect, the chassis if fine but scruffy it just tears the grass when turning its got to be worth a try if its no good then I will buy a new one plus it gives me something to do and I do like repairing things if I can. enfieldspares
Is it a cylinder mower or a rotary mower? If a rotary just unbolt the blade and give it good sharpen. Any file should do it.
Walker570
Waste not want not. Should do the job. If not send it to Ditchie and it will come back like new.
bruno22rf
Just buy an electric jobbie - so much easier.

Rob85
Another mower victim, the deck on mine had rotted out pretty bad this year and split behind the front wheels just after my 2nd last cut. so much so that it flexed so much the blade hit the sides. As the engine and everything else is good I just welded in new metal, I know a lot of people who scrap stuff at the first sign of bother as is the norm with today's throwaway society. Why spend over 100quid for a new one when a couple of afternoons with scrap steel and a scrappy welder can get things going again!

WalkedUp
I use an angle grinder to shape and sharpen the blade. Not sure if this is best practice but with the abuse my mower gets a file would take days.
B725
The mower is all done now , it was a bit of a faff and the odd adjustment just need to sharpen and balance the blade.
Walker570
If your carefull then a grinder will do the job as well as a file. You just need it in a good firm place and a comfortable place to be able to control the grinder.
