amateur
I saw it reported today that a Shipley woman who had used a samurai sword to chase burglars away from her home, inflicting serious hand injuries on one of the burglars who had grabbed the blade, was exonerated by the judge on the grounds of self-defence The burglar got 3 years and permanent nerve damage. Rewulf
Im on the ladies side , but Im surprised... How far did she actually chase the burglars, where was the sword ? I thought certain samurai type blades had been made subject to banning orders in the offensive weapons bill ?

figgy
More judges like this one please. Common sense, can prevail now and again. If he was a good judge he would have gave her a medal and him the maximum possible.

According to the newspaper report it was hung as a decorative item on their bedroom wall, taken down by her husband to scare the three burglars. The wife unsheathed it, chased the trio outside and only wounded one when he tried to grab the blade with his gloved hands. Self inflicted. Not sure that I would have risked having a samurai sword on my bedroom wall, though. Only take a bad bout of PMS.
