TIGHTCHOKE
Gordon Bennett, here we go again! I wonder where this "snowflake" thing will finish?
Scully
I once asked a lady on the LACS forum, who was campaigning to have all competitive horse racing/events banned, what she thought would happen to all the horses if she was successful. She clearly hadn’t thought it through.

manthing
Having owned and ridden horses i can tell you they love having sumat to do. I could work our cross shire for an hour in a menage doing basically an obstacle course and on trying to cool her down she would quite happily continue weaving and jumping with me just sat on top. Stonkin donkey. One of the worse things you can do to a horse is stick it in a field with nowt to do.
DUNKS
I lived as a boy on a road alongside a canal. Daily barges would pass some pulled by a Butty boat but most by horses. Some tow paths even swopped sides so the horse was not pulling from the same side. The horses were all huge kind creatures and seemed perfectly happy. They were not forced to speed. I would say a very gentle happy life. We even had a guy used to pass every week or so pulling his own barge with a harness round his shoulders, Goodness knows how many tons of coal and pulled with comparative ease. The snowflakes are killing this country. Who the heck are they?
Dougy
The bigger issue is who are enforcing these bans ? By all mean raise your concerns and look at them. But don't roll over and take it.

Benthejockey
I've ridden, owned, looked after and generally been involved with thousands of horses. Out of those thousands maybe 20 have expired or suffered career ending injuries. Lets say 15 got put down. More than half of them met their demise because of injuries incurred out in the field left to their own devices. Horses are in fact very good at killing themselves, not quite with the same gay abandon as sheep but they're not far away with their desire to snap bits off and die.

She had it in her head that horses would just be able to live out their lives and die of old age, and in some cases this would certainly be the case, but what about the rest, and why would others be bred to replace them? Horses aint cheap to keep. She just hadn’t thought it through.

What do we do with those hundreds if not thousands of farmers in this country alone?

oowee
Do you think this is true? More to this than is suggested I think. Ms Roberts also said frequent confrontations with towpath-users who refused to let her horses pass had made the pleasure trips too stressful.
