mattsccm
I fancy a spotting scope. No need though as it is really only to give me something to do on holiday in the Orkneys. Just how dire are the sub 100 quid things? Even I can spot the difference between my Swarovski glasses and some cheapo things. However multiple hudreds of quids isn't an option. Are things like the Gosky's , Bressers tolerable? More to keep me amused than identify detail and 3 miles.

landowner
I actually sometimes use one of these, always have it in the glove-compartment -- one-handed and under 50 quid: Simakara monocular spotter scope
steve_b_wales
The ones from Lidl are okay, but make sure you have a solid tripod.

London Best
My Aldi cheap spotting scope came supplied with a cheap tripod. The tripod was carp. The scope a little better.
enfieldspares
Maybe the same make of binoculars as the annoying man on the Sun LIfe Funeral Plan advert? Except if he was my neighbour he'd be walking sideways, like a crab, as I be might tempted to shove his binoculars where the sun doesn't shine. mattsccm
Cheers I'll just keep an eye out. There was one here somewhiloe back but I think it has gone. Might spend a hundred and would rather a battered better one but as I said, chances are it will be used for a week and then sit in the window to watch the farmers cattle a mile aay.
