Squirrel call

Has anyone used a squirrel call. I thought about it as I was walking through our local graveyard and there were squirrels everywhere.  Some were on the sides of the trees not far off the ground, flicking their tails and mouthing off.

I had one for sale on here last year. Bought it to try on a couple of permissions, but shortly afterwards lost them. They are tricky to get used to, but I've seen and heard them in action and they do work to attract the squizzers.

If you want one, pay the postage and it's yours 😉

I always thought, those calls that squirrels made, were warning calls. Would such a call attract squirrels, or do the opposite?

Some calls would be warning calls, but they have quite a range of others which this caller emulates quite well,,,, if the operator does their thing 😀

I seem to recall that a large coin cupped in your hand then tapped with the edge of another coin works?

That type works well if you just tap the bellows sharply with 1 or two fingers. try to hit it doing a drum roll on it with your finger tips. the Greys will give you a shot while scolding you

I bought and tried, they ran away. Sounds good but I can't get any results with it. Sat in my one day I'll give it another go box.

You can blow it like a fox call as well.

I'd be interested in anything that works, I've tried tapping just once and it worked but ya can't tap and shoot at the same time. Lots of greys around at the moment but they screech a warning and are gone long before they're in range.

Have loads of squirrels come within range when sitting in a high seat awaiting deer, even as close as a couple of feet away. For some reason they simply do not equate someone up in a seat as a danger.

I'm sure the little ******* don't look up. I used to snipe them at about 10 yards or less, out of a big hazel tree,  from a bedroom window. Funnily I also shot a funny coloured one out of the top which turned out to be a rat.

I went through our local graveyard with my daughters small dog yesterday and near a tree was at least 5 squirrels, anyway one was flicking its tail and barking/squawking at me and the dog. The call that JKD gave me sounds just like that noise.

What the noise means I haven’t a clue but its certainly very similar 😉
