Hello, the last new smart TV I bought lasted 1 week so that went back, the wi fi was ****, I only want one for catch up TV films and dramas,  and usual stations, I'm looking at fitting a cable from TV to the broadband box rather than wi fi , would this work with a Toshiba 43 UL 2163 DBL I've seen at lidl , any advice welcome 👍

I can't find the one listed at Lidl but I recon this is the same tv at Argos

Buy Toshiba 43 Inch 43UL2163DBC Smart 4K UHD HDR LED Freeview TV | Televisions | Argos

It can be hard wired as you want, if you look down to the 'connectivity ' section you will see " Ethernet connection " this is what you need and then you will have no wifi issues

Yeah, as above. It has an ethernet port, this will be a standard rj45 network port.

Can be hard wired or wifi.

Cat 6 or Cat 5 patch lead.

Something like this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-com-Patch-Cable-Snagless-Connectors/dp/B06XTL7N4K

You may find them a lot cheaper.

Thanks

Make sure the lead is COPPER and not aluminium or CCA ( copper clad aluminium)

Thanks

Don't forget you can use Smart Plugs for this - uses the 240v ring main in your house as a data network.   One plug is located adjacent to your broadband router with an ethernet cable into the router, the 2nd plug goes next to the TV with an ethernet cable into the TV.   It's not new tech and has matured for quite come years.

Link: TP-Link TL-PA717 KIT 1-Port Gigabit Powerline Starter Kit, Data Transfer Speed Up to 1000 Mbps, Ideal for HD/3D/4K Video Streaming and Online Gaming(for Wired Only), No Configuration Required

It's literally plug and play.

yep, got my TV plugged into one of these, works a treat and no cables to run apart from the short length from the plug to the TV.

@oldypigeonpopper if you do go down the powerline route, get some with pass through plug sockets, so you don't lose a socket.

run a cat5 cable if it is doable

tp link power line  - ip over mains if it is not.

So much this.

Powerline adaptors are much better than they used to be, granted, but ideally they're only a stop-gap solution prior to a hardwired connection.

In other words, @oldypigeonpopper, if you can at all run the cable without too much bother direct from the TV to your router, don't unnecessarily complicate it with powerline adaptors.  Keep it simple
