Gordon R Posted February 12, 2023 Report Share Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) The Parker Hale 800 series was made by "Winchester" and was the same standard of wood and engraving as the Winchester Grand European. I had the 803 trap version in the 1980s. Although I have seen them on sale for more, the price seemed high, when you can get an original Grand European for the same or less. The stock extension is quite noticeable and if removed, would need a new / modification to the recoil pad. Chokes have been altered to a rather odd 1/4 and full. Got to say the woodwork looks good. Fellside Posted February 12, 2023 Report Share Posted February 12, 2023 I know little about Parker Hale guns - other than a friend started his shooting career with one about 10 years ago and it was dreadful. The trigger was very heavy, distractingly bad. When I was showing him the ropes, he would often hit with the top barrel and miss with the bottom. This occurred with uncanny regularity. I tested POI for him. Top barrel shot to point of aim, the bottom one about a 1 1/2 ft under the mark at 25 yards. Perhaps his wasn’t a Winchester…..? Gordon R Posted February 12, 2023 Report Share Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) Parker Hale had three ranges of over and unders:- 500 series - cheap, relatively crude - made in Spain, from memory. 700 series - decent, made by Franchi. 800 series - made in Japan by Olin Kodensha (who made the Winchester 101 series). More shotguns than you realise have different POI from each barrel . They are after all only two tubes soldered together.
