Gordon R Posted May 9, 2023 Report Share Posted May 9, 2023 (edited) A good friend is building a kit car based on a Triumph Herald - a Fairthorpe no less. He turns up when he has got stuck or something is broken. A couple of weeks ago, he turned up with a distributor - rotor seized, advance weights seized, vacuum advance stuck, cap corroded, HT lead holes badly corroded, rusted up just about everything. The photos are when the outside was cleaned up a bit, but before and after internals sorted. Now passes current and moving freely. When he brought it, I said he should throw it in the bin and get another. His answer is always the same - "I'm from Yorkshire and don't like spending money". I thought I would give it a whirl and then scrap it, but it became a bit of a challenge. I thought I could unseize the bits, but wasn't confident that it would move as freely as it needed to. Very well done 👏 Years ago, I think it was a mini the points used to "jump" and I used to be able to guess setting the points and rocking it back and forwards to get it on the edge of the cam.
