People sometimes remove new scopes from their boxes and sit twiddling with their knobs before fitting the scope!

ditchman
i must have been lucky over the years ....the only problem ive had (was probley my fault for fiddling with them) was the claw mounts were designed for 2 different rails and one was one way and the other was the opposite way............ hope he gets it sorted
Grandalf
I always use the largest box, cardboard sheet or opened feed bag that I can find and put the first shots through at about fifteen yards. Amazing how far off they can be.

Ultrastu
New gun and scope .First time zeroing I use a big card board box at about 15 yds .with a circle drawn in the middle .shoot it and roughly get it zeroed .then move it out to 25 yds .and rezero again .and then move it again out to 50 (for a .22 rimmy ) and finalise the zeroing to perfection . When finished return the box to 15 yds and check again that zero is where it should be ..

Sat about 35 yds away with my .22 457 and Simmons scope and fired 10 shots and completely missed with all 10 shots. How on earth can you miss a ft square board at that distance ?. Anyway after a bit of twiddling with dials i finally sorted it. So will zero it for 50 yds next week. Anyone got an answer to the missing ?. All smart sarcastic replies gratefully accepted 😂. Thanks all. Yes. Set the target up at ten yards. Fire ONE shot. Now adjust and fire a second shot. When you are where you want to be move the target back to your chosen thirty-five yards and dial the thing in.
