The BBC has published new guidance on the use of social media by its staff and freelancers, but will that stop some presenters from whipping up hate against the shooting community?

Not a fan of the BBC or others such as GB news, each push their own agendas and give no true balance to any argument, but it is hardly balanced to say “deserves to be punched repeatedly by everyone”.

Firstly, who is everyone? Secondly, “deserves” based on what?  It is unlikley things posted on here would make the MSM but imagine if it did…. Guns, violence encouraged blah blah blah.  Unlikely to recover much from that scenario, we need to be cleverer than that.

Red, I'd tend to agree. Also if licencing are going to take social media into account and you can be linked to a username, that may be the kind of red flag that would be perceived poorly and potentially inciting violence.

Who'd have thunk it?

Social media coming home to roost!

Inciting violence with a tongue in cheek comment that didn't ask anyone to do anything, get a grip.

With the woke mentality currently prevalent in the western world, anything is possible. Ask the young girl dragged from her home for saying a copper looked like her lesbian nana.

I think you have missed my point entirely.

your comment could be seen as inciting violence, a written sentence can be interpreted different ways. I'm suggesting your comment could be taken tongue in cheek, or as inciting violence.
it has nothing to do with being woke, just that people will interpret it differently depending on mood, attitude, persons involved etc.

That said, your comment without tone or emoji or similar to differentiate still is showing aggression which could still be read poorly

For clarity, I do not think you're inciting violence. But, likewise if brought up in front of a judge I wouldn't feel particularly comfortable explaining why my words are suggesting someone needs physical violence against them. The tone in court would certainly lean unfavourably.

As an addition, if it were tongue in cheek and you feel nothing is wrong with the comment, why did you edit it out? I ask in reflection, as I can guess the answer. I'm sorry you felt the need to edit it, I was hoping for some conversation on perspective. But, I also believe you can see how it could be perceived very negatively if reviewed by the police.

I took it out so I didn't get more people like you on my back, if my FEO was ever to see this thread he would know it was me who made the comment wouldn't he.  Lets hope he has a better sense of humour than you.  Lets see if there are mass hordes of people hunting him down tomorrow shall we (sarcasm just so we are clear) .  Just to be clear I never asked anyone to do anything so I am inciting absolutely nothing.  Like I say get a grip you are beyond ridiculous.

I’m definitely not taking sides hear - but I think HantsRob was just trying to help you understand how it could be taken out of context. Helpful advice is the way I read it.
