I’m assuming that to remain logical and consistent with their ‘high carbon’ campaign, the company will lobby to ban airline and holiday ads?
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall was one of my foody and the simple lifestyle heroes back in the early days of River Cottage, but he’s just turned into yet another virtue signalling wealthy celebrity, championing land based wind turbines and advocating we should be driving electric vehicles. He recently announced he will be shortly flying to Australia after being invited to participate in a food show….fancy that, flying to the other side of the world to talk about food! 🤷‍♂️

No doubt he will have considered it will do his celebrity profile little harm also ( and therefore his earning power ) but has announced he will be planting trees to offset his carbon fuelled journey. 🤔

Anyhow, to get back in topic, it would be enjoyable if Toyota took legal action against these idiots. One can hope.

A bit of confusion here. The report is from the Guardian but was carried elsewhere too.

The ASA is the advertising industry's own regulating body, so what Top Gear does is irrelevant.

The ASA does not have statutory powers, so presumably Toyota or their advertising agency can ignore it - at some reputational cost. There does not seem to be a place for legal action in this situation.

If you knew farmers and landowners who suffered from having a so called "green lane" over their landholding you'd think different.

Would these be the same ones who destroy hedgerows and wildlife habitats for maximum profit. Or those clamouring to sell thier land to housing developers?
