joejoe
Does anyone know if this includes the Olympic 6 pistol (pictured) ? Just I happen to have one I bought for dog training. https://www.shootinguk.co.uk/news/home-office-amnesty-for-illegal-blank-firing-pistols-149494/

decoyman
Top venting not the problem. H.Office states 4 x manafacturers (Turkish) .are affected. RETAY,EKOL,CEONIC and BLOW. These have been converted by criminals. Other makes not affected. As I understand it.
joejoe
That is how I understood it but the picture was of an Olympic 6 which I think is Italian.
scarecrow243
this so called expert thinks the magazine of a 9mm retay blank pistol can hold 9mm live rounds needs to try and put a live round in the magazine it won't fit as the magazine is only wide enough for the blank round plus the metal of these pistols in the uk are not strong enough to take the pressure
rbrowning2
guess if you have the ability to modify them to live fire, then they probably can make ammunition of wadcutter type which is no longer than the cartridge case, so now fits in the magazine. You GUESS? These Starter Pistols have been reverse engineered to actually fire live ammunition hence the communication about the 4 manufacturers weapons. Fil
The article (link above) on the shooting.co.uk website is misleading or confusing. Whilst they talk about the correct pistols that are banned they show one that isn't. This article is from the National Crime Agency themselves. https://www.nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/news/amnesty-to-be-held-for-blank-firing-guns-popular-with-organised-criminals

I was replying to scarecrow243 post where he said 9mm live rounds would not fit in the magazine, rather than that the guns are easy to modify to live fire. i.e if they have the ability to convert them they are likely to have the ability to manufacture wadcutter 9mm ammo. enfieldspares
In some ways this "conversion" by a so-called "national laboratory" isn't always what it seems. At one time, and I do not know if this is still the case as long as the weapon could fire a bullet at over 1 joules it was then deemed to be a "lethal barreled weapon". Yes that's right...ONE JOULE. Notwithstanding the fact that in a true 9mm Parabellum the muzzle energy is around 400 to 500 joules. Now most .22" Rimfire blank firing guns can safely fire a bulleted .22" Rimfire cartridge that they can chamber...so that might be a mere CB Cap...but don't believe all that a so-called "national laboratory might have you believe in regard to many converted centrefire blank firing guns. The "bar" to be so tested and declared a "lethal barreled weapon"...ONE JOULE...is pretty low!
Graham M
I watched a TV program a while back in which a gun that had been converted to fire a "Live round" was tested by the police. It was obvious to any firearms user that the gun was useless as a firearm because it basically shoot a bit of **** out of the barrel with enough force to kill a fly. Didn't make a scrap of difference to the "Expert" who was pushing the agenda, because as far as he was concerned it was now a firearm and the lad who had converted it went to prison. It was painful to watch, as this so called "Expert" was obviously making this "Lethal weapon" look far more devastating than it was. He looked like a man who had been caught telling porkies and trying to BS his way out of it. Don't try and make a shootable blank firer, because you will go to prison. I didn't see the programme but know well the sort of flannel that was being spun.
joejoe
I seen something similar where someone printed a gun from the internet, called a FGC-9. You can look up what that stands for if you wish. This was on BBC called “Forensics: The Real CSI”. They too fired a small modified bullet which they did to keep the pressure down. I wouldn’t fancy holding it near my face and using a real bullet.
scarecrow243
well as far as i can find out this is not happening in Scotland i also phone the local firearms department to see if they knew anything about it they have not heard anything about it happening here yet
DannyBuoy1980
The amnesty only applies to England and Wales, hence you can still buy these elsewhere. They don't mention cylinder venting revolvers by these manufacturers, only TVBFs. Apparently further details are forth coming nearer the amnesty date, so I hope they clarify which models are now illegal and those that are still legal. Rob85 Posted Monday at 09:07 Report Share Posted Monday at 09:07 I don't know why you would bother converting a blank pistol to fire live rounds when they would be so unsafe. Do gangsters want them because they look more like a real gun? I'm pretty sure there was at one point videos on YouTube that showed how to make an automatic pistol and "slam fire" shotguns and you don't need much more than a hobby lathe to do it. They're looking like .22 short in power, smoothbore, so bit of a semi-auto zip gun, but still lethal. It's also about being a RIF, looking at the stats for the UK, gel blasters are also being used though not always being recorded as such in crimes skewing the figures...maybe even one day cap guns will be illegal, I know there is a campaign group that objects to FAs being shown in shop windows...
