Leftovers Filled A Hole Up

I had half of M + S Cottage Pie left in the fridge , a few veg from last night and some Carrot crush , stuck them in the oven all together while warming up with a nice strong cup of tea , I think next week it will be cold enough for some Winter warmers like stews or casseroles , still we haven't finished with today yet so we will think about the cold next week when it arrive .    MM

Yea , I need to keep the cold out , this morning was the coldest morning we have had so far this winter , I had a pair of sheepskin gloves on when I walked around the river at Burgh Castle and my hands were still freezing , another sign of getting near the sell by date :lol:

Got my slow cooker out of storage today , How long do you set yours for a stew ? , I was thinking getting it all ready on the day of the shoot and switch it on before I go at 8.30 and we get back home around 4pm .

Yes it was alright and it made a meal from the leftovers from my previous meals , food is far to dear to waste any :good:

"I had half of M + S Cottage Pie left in the fridge". M+S..?  A bit extravagant isn't it.? Shouldn't that be Tesco or Asda or Lidle or similar.  A plate full of nice fuel. I'm quite partial to random left overs.  I quite like a slow stew / casserole. Everything in the pot.  Beef chopped small. Mushrooms, peas, sweetcorn, tomatoes,  onion, potato,  couple of stock cubes,  bit of herbs and spices,   sounds a lot but really nice. The Mrs doesn't go for it so I  get 2x 1ltr Pyrex jugs and a 1ltr jug so it lasts me 2 days along with granary.  It's a bit moist down in the tropical south but still T shirt weather.

Pity we didn't get our fuel allowance this year as I would had used my bus pass and had a day up Harrods to see if there any bargains in the food section :lol: , they know me in our M + S by my first name and one of the girls even tell me what they have reduced if I am a bit late , mind you I often buy a carton that would feed two or four people , I then look on the back to see if you can freeze it , if you can't then that go in the fridge and anything else go in the freezer , two or three weeks supply is enough and I don't replace anything till I have made a bit of space , so it might be a bit over the top for a ole worn out Marsh man but I recon I spend less in there than I would had done in Tesco's if I had bought the same stuff at full price , having the time and knowing the time when they reduce the stuff is the secret  :good:

That'll work, or if you want really soft meat, switch it on just before you go to bed and let it fester for hours.

We have a few laughs now again but I have always been deadly serious when it come to food waste , my parents had to bring up six of us and although they both had very little money I can honestly say we never went hungry , some of the meals were not always to your liking but my father used to say , if you were hungry then you would eat it , this way of thinking have stayed with me throughout my life , but financially we have been far better off than my parents ever were and we could normally afford within reason whatever we wanted , now I am like you a single person I often buy meals for two and just split them up to make two meals with a day or two gaps in between , any bread or anything the birds would eat are put out each morning and anything I leave my dog finish it off .

At one time where I used to live , we had one or two villagers that kept Pigs , all the potato peelings and and any other waste my mum had were giving to them to put in the copper boiler for the Pigs grub and when they had one killed for Christmas we always got some sausage's and some liver as a thank you .  MM
