At last! Went into Boots for some paracetamol and ibuprofen and was asked ‘how many would you like?’ To which I replied as many as I can have. Was given 1 pack of 96 Ibuprofen and 3x32 ( 96 tablets ) of paracetamol. 
In my local supermarket I regularly upset staff by going round twice ( seperate transaction ) to get the amount I want rather than having to shop in two or three different stores. 
Wasn’t aware pharmacists can use their discretion. Boots it is for me from now on! 🙂

My local chemist is quite relaxed about both paracetamol and ibuprofen quantities and cheaper than the supermarkets.

Well apparently if you purchase more than two packets, 16 in each you might be trying to over dose. That's what I was told buy the shop assistant, yes she's only doing her job  but who comes up with this?

Aldi check out would only let my wife and I take out one pack of paracetamol and when I said i would go out my self and come back in she said "if it it is me again at the check out I would refuse because I know you have just bought one pack".

I bit my lip and left

I always wondered if you bought your allowance, usually 16 tablets and then went to another shop and bought 16 there and so on you could get quite a few tablets.

Beyond stupid I'm afraid.

Falls under the same principle as staff refusing to serve alcohol to drunk customers. It’s not that they particularly care, it’s just that they don’t want to be liable on the rare occasion that someone is purchasing to harm themselves.

Quite. Akin to hiding cigarettes and tobacco behind a hoarding but leaving alcohol on clear display. What's that all about? Not that that would make the former any more logical. Unless I’m mistaken I heard drink related deaths have risen.

One can only assume the revenue garnered for the government from alcohol,  exceeds the cost of treatment for excesses to the NHS. 🤷‍♂️

Anyhow, it’s nice to see a bit of common applied at the chemist.

i get 112 codeine 30mg tablets a month but as they are addictive i dont like taking them , so unless my knees are really bad i just take 8 paracetamol daily

This is fine if you are near a pharmacy/shop that sells  (our surgery has a pharmacy but for scripts only).  Our nearest is 4miles and a £2 parking fee away or a supermarket at 7.

With the number that i use the 32 they will allow would last 4 days and as a household would mean a visit every 3 days.

The doc put them on script in 2020as being asthmatic I was at risk visiting the shops.
