Fish on friday

With regard to the mandatory ship colour check, the chips in the first two pictures are an extremely good colour.

But those in picture three are not as good. Is it a simple as using flash in some of the pictures?

The piece of fish does have a lovely colour too.

doing a bit of an experiment with meatballs tomorrow

Here's a recent meatball meal.  The meatballs in a tomato based sauce with a mix of chopped peppers, chillies, onions and frozen mixed veggies.  The strange looking heap on the right is bubble and squeak.

3rd pic looks like a flash went off and changed the colour ?

If your chips were as Brown as that on Yarmouth market place the regular punter would think they were burnt , the colour overall is very close to your bottom photo , the next time I get some chips on the market or when I go to Cromer I will take a photo and report back at base

As for your dinner / tea , I thought the amount of chips on the plate look excessive as you are dog less 😛 even though they look that nice I would have had a good go at clearing them up myself , not a big fan of baked beans and was the fish baked in bread crumbs :hmm:

i eat more chips now as

  1. they have time to drain
  2. i dont eat bread now (which makes a hell of a difference)

yep fish in bread crumbs.....and i like my Branston beans........they make very good cowboy beans with belly pork and black treacle ...onions and stuff

Looks lovely Mr ditchman 😋 A tad excessive with the chips, but that's my sort of 'easy dinner' 😁

good description..."an easy dinner"

The chips look like 'perfection' in my eyes. Dimensions and colour are perfect!

Ditchy, may I ask is your preferred cooking medium....... Lard or veg oil?

The accompanying Branston beans will go down a treat.

Thank the lord for Hester Blumenthal, the creator of the triple cooked chip.

at the moment im using rapeseed oil....Crisp&Dry............when i change the oil im tempted to try Lard or dripping...watch this space

Oohh!

Chips in clean lard, beautiful.

Reminiscing back as a child, I can still see and smell our lard chip pan. Burnt on the ouside of the pan from the chip fat fires and that acrid smell.

At home, as a child, chips were always fried in lard. Oil was something you put in the car and salt and peppered beef dripping on toast or fresh homemade bread was a Monday teatime treat, with the brown beef jelly under the creamy fat being particularly fought over.

Clogged arteries? Pah! Father and Mother both lasted 'til their 90s and both Grandmas into their late 80s.
