Really annoying!

I still had much to say in reply to the ‘lead shot ingestion in birds’ thread, and none of it insulting nor personal, but gave up on the forum because I just didn’t have the time then to wait for it to load!
Thought I’d try again tonight and found the thread locked!

Loading still isn’t sorted. Really annoying.

😂 It really is annoying! Even ‘going back’ is tedious!

I think the Mods let it run for a decent time.

BASC had taken a panning - quite rightly - and sank almost without a trace. It became embarrassing and I would question why the OP ever started the thread. It wasn't rocket science to see the way it would go, as there was no logic behind their position.

Yep but no doubt more will appear!

Sorry Scully probably my fault ,I think I let frustration get the better of me.

Having followed the whole thread you have the patience of a saint!

You're questioning the research that's being presented, asking specific questions about the papers, and the interpretation they made of it only to be stonewalled by more "research" being dumped, again with no engagement, being ignored entirely or faced with "Do you agree...." point scoring questions.

I'd have lost my mind long ago...

If you have concerns then you might, e.g. -

Engage with the CEO of BASC.

Engage with one or more members of BASC Council, or of the various liaison committees.

Take your concerns to the next AGM this spring.

Consider standing for Council. Too late for 2025. Applications for 2026 candidature close at, I think, the end of the year.

I know what you mean, I've not posted as much because things are often pretty slow, especially when you try adding in pictures as well.

Took some finding, had to go through your post history to find the thread, not surecwhat else could be said after 15+ pages, but having a quick glance it looked like waffle from BASC, seems to me they've excepted that lead is going and that's it.

The quoted Woodpecker piece, then reply by another member sums it up, pick out tge bits you want to show, and nothing else.

We visited Martin Mere on World wetlands day last month, lovely place, birds and twitchers everywhere, if there were wildfowl dropping dead they'd be getting noticed straight away.

I won’t be renewing membership this year ,I’ve been a member since the middle 1970s but had enough now.
