ME
We live on a road that is a bit of a rat run and live near a convenience store that is a bit a a gathering point for the local chavs. Two months ago my missus got her car keyed so I got a couple of security lights with movement sensors put up. On Wednesday I was walking out the front door and noticed that someone has been tampering with the security lights meaning that they wouldnt work. I went to JJ's with Evil Elvis and he noticed that someone has scratched the windscreen of my car now. They are deep scratches and I think is it is a really weird thing to do - why not just key the bodywork ?...it would take less effort. Anyway, can anyone recommend some security lights that wont wake up my neighbours opposite or a good wireless CCTV with night vision or something similar ? All suggestions will be gratefully received, but can we keep it to stuff that wont get me a 10 year stretch ! ...... and that doesnt involve me staying up all night for the next few months ! Mungler
Ricks well into this - his setup on the farm is very state of the art (probably cos the local ****** like machinery and tools and the farm shop is an "honesty" shop). If you want to go mad there are movement activated solutions that record MPEG4 to the hard drive of a PC or something cheaper off flea Bay from the wicky wicky chinese lot - I had some of that and it wasn't that bad TBH. Cranfield
Have you anything (like stickers) on your cars that attract attention, especially after the keying at JJ's, which seems very strange ?
caspertguk
This is an okay camera for anything that isn't too far away from your house, if you have already got lights then all the better as it will switch from night vision to day when the lights come on, obviously you need the rest of the gear, plenty of stuff out there but it starts to go above the £100 mark! http://www.uk-automation.co.uk/night-colou...era-p-1230.html

Mungler
Reminds me of that bit in Pulp Fiction when John Travolta is talking about the people that keyed his car. The price of the respray would be worth catching them in the act.

The scratching / keying on both cars happened outside the house. Neither car would attract attention.

fortune
A neighbour of my brother kept getting this sort of thing from a boy that didn't like the guy. Everyone knew it was him but the law didn't want to know so he set a camera up and filmed the boy doing more naughties. took it to the law who said O it's really good nice images and we can see who it is and what they are doing. BUT SORRY we cant use it because you are not a licensed camera and it wouldn't be admissible in court as evidence. DATA PROTECTION Ect The guy was so ****** he sold his house and moved. I know that I wouldn't have moved and I would have had it sorted to my satisfaction. Conclusion: -- ?? Make what you will of this.

I hear the same story over and over " the police could not admit it as evidence as the picture was not clear enough so can you fit a better system" You will only get clarity with quality so unless your willing to spend bucks just save your money and bide your time. You can get black light that the human eye cant see that will flood any given area, this matched to a couple of good quality time date generated camaras should do the trick, but be aware of the Entrapment laws, you need to put signs up clearly visable informing the public that for the saftey and protection of your property cctv equipment is operational in this area, we once for our own purpose installed a miniture camara in an empty can of coke and stuck it on a hedge, with black light, caught the bleeders two nights later, we went round to the family house and should the father, with a few short words thrown in, it stopped. Lord Geordie
Just make sure you get a model that has a time and date stamp facility as with no time and no date on the recording again they will throw it out of court

JohnGalway
If you want something that will, say, stand up in court, then get a good one. We had people causing trouble front of our house, throwing, stones, eggs, taping bangers to the windows, at the door etc. Got a security canera, camoflaged it in a geranium and nabbed the ****er. Now, the law turned up and said it wasn't good enough. *I* knew who it was, but John Law said he couldn't be sure so I had to "sort it" myself in the end, which I did. So get something quality that you can get a demonstration of before you buy if you want to take it to law or anything like that. Then again, they'll probably just put up their hoods... Sorry mate, I do feel bad this is happening to you.
