My first car was a Hillman Imp Stilleto, which I bought when I was seveenteen.

It was gold with a black vinal roof.

It cost me £300, and £700 to insure because it was a 999cc twincarb SPORTS  coupe!!

It was my pride and joy, and I spent a small fortune on bits and pieces for it, like;

A stereo radio cassette player ;)

Two sets of Hi Fi speakers, which I crammed in behind the front seats,

An 8 band graphic equalizer,

A furry steering wheel cover, with matching terracota fur for the dashboard :*)

Six spotlights which could only be flicked on when I was doing over 50mph, otherwise the battery drained in seconds, and the engine died.

Oh and a set of car seat covers to match the fur on the dashbord. B)

Pity I didn't spend any money on a basic mechanics course really, and learned to put some water in the engine, it would have probably not have overheated & seized up :/

After that I had a Hillman Avenger, which had to always be parked facing downhill, because the starter motor was knackered.

Then a mk3 Cortina estate, which ran for ever, despite getting reversed into ditches & trundling over fields with five lads & all their fishing gear in it.

In my early 20's, I got into American muscle cars, and had various Trans Ams & Mustangs. Then after the children were born I had to cut back on the fuel money, and had 2.8 Granada's & Senators.

Now........

Well I've got a 400 Diesel Rover, and a LWB Fronterra, which you need to wipe your feet in before you get out.

How things change! :P

My first car was a little red Peugeot 205 which I put in a ditch shortly after passing my test, and finally wrote off. I also managed to write off a brand new Vauxhall omega in the process. B)

I then got a little blue B reg Fiesta which I cristened Malcolm. He was a bit tatty but was actually a great little car. Got me from a to b and didn't give me any grief. Didn't do too much damage to this one, other than hitting a gatepost.

After selling Malcolm I got a brand new purple Clio (V reg). Had this a year, went in to the back of one bloke and crumpled the bonnet. I got it fixed but took the car to London and it was Stolen.

It was retrieved two months later from Stanstead airport. But by this time I'd replaced it with a Metro (which later got broken in to and smashed up in Oxford, so I practically gave it away).

So I took the money, and paid a deposit on a new Black Clio Sport which is the car I have now. Still in one piece (touch wood).

As you can see I don't have a good track record.

Believe it or not I'm not actually a bad driver. ;)
