Pizza delivery would be nice :birthday: call girls ;) booze delivery for that moment you open the fridge and realise its the last can

On a serious note there isnt a case that couldnt waite a few days or if your planning to do something you should really find out first and not leave it untill the last minute. It would be nice to be able to phone on a weekend but not something that NEEDS to be introduced.

What I think is important is that we look to see what types of advice members think they need and ask why they need it at short notice and "out of hours".

The website is, of course, available 24/7 and I am the first to acknowledge that it is very poorly designed as far as fast navigation is concerned. Even the "search" function is pretty useless. If we could identify the areas where urgent advice may be required, then a top level click-through to appropriate FAQ sections might meet most of the need.

As an example, many of the Firearms queries might be answered by simply providing an index to the Home Office Guidance manual that is already on the internet.

I notice that one person has clicked on "Wildfowling Advice" and another (or maybe the same) on Game Shooting Advice. For the life of me I just cannot imagine what advice in those subject areas might be though to be so urgent. Can the respondent enlighten me?

What about Anti advise? I have had some very bad experience 07/08 and there’s seems little or no advise from all quarters other than slip your gun and walk away

What about helping an anti out of a fresh slub dyke after they have accidently fallen in- Can't see any mention what to do when that happens as it did last year.......

I was certainly stumped as what to do with a screaming anti who was waist deep in mud- If I had the 24/7 BASC numbers some advice would have been available would it not?:birthday:?;)?

As it was all I could do was leave him there.

OK - no answer to my question on wildfowling or gameshooting.

Here is one that I could conceive of being important on the gamekeeping front.

As a "normal" BASC member you run a DIY syndicate that leases 600 acres of ground and puts down about 500 pheasant poults in two release pens. At 6.30 on a Friday evening in August, just a week after the poults went into the pens, the syndicate member who is on the duty rota for feeding and checking traps that night phones you to say that he has found a dozen dead poults in one of the pens and another 30 or 40 that are looking sick. You need help fast!

So here's a wee challenge - using the BASC website and any other websites you can find, try to get urgent advice to at least give you a pointer towards the possible causes of that problem and the likely solutions. If it has to wait until Monday morning, you might have lost 50% of your birds which will cost your syndicate £750 to replace.

I think that, in time, it should be possible to develop "diagnostic" facilities on websites. The sort of thing where you select the broad problem area from a list and then answer questions to focus in on the specific problem you are facing and throw up the answer.

I would certainly prefer that sort of facility to a telephone telling me, "If it is a gamekeeping problem, press 1", "If all yopur pheasants have turned purple, press 2", "Key in your membership number and press hash"......... (music) ...."Please wait while we connect you to an operator".... (music) .... "all our operators are busy. your call is important to us, please call back next year"....
