sorry to hijac the thread but where do you sent the application to in northumberland ?
It could take a while to get it through as they are busy at this time, 10 weeks from sending my application (6 weeks until visit, nearly 4 weeks from visit and still waiting for SGC).

It's now been over 5 weeks since my interview. I know you can't complain because they may 'lose' your application but this does strike me as being completely unfair. It's not even going to be seen until next tuesday apparently (by the fire arms licensing officer). I've paid money, and been fast and efficient, why can't i receive the same service? The worst part is there is absolutely nothing i can do. They can take 2 years if they want, and i will have to keep waiting.

Sent my fac application to Thames valley police at the end of February and got it back on the 24th of April. The last couple of weeks have cost me a fortune!

Will have to see how long it takes to get a variation done as I've found a farmer who will let me shoot on his land. Hopefully quite quick.

I have spoken to Staffs FAO last week, but with respect so as not to "get my application lost".

The answers I got back were. to say the least. a thin excuse for a sloppy slow and inefficient sevice, in comparision to other forces (based on the information on here).

A pal from Derby got his ticket through in less than 3 weeks. 3-4 months is just not good enough in my eyes.....but what can you do, but wait!

Have they cashed the chque

If so you have got it,

Been waiting five weeks so far but didnt realise that if they cash the cheque then you have got it? Dyfed/powys police FLO is a very nice chap and helped me with the forms and took them from me to save posting

Dont know if they have cashed my cheque, will have to check.

cashing the cheque dont mean nothing mine was checked in 3 days they never see me , checked references , spoke to my dr or nothing so that aint true

I read a thread somewhere (dont think it was this site) where the rules state that if you are not granted the licence you will have your money returned along with a reason for refusal - so as stated a cashed cheque doesnt mean you have been granted a licence.

Firearms licensing will cash your cheque as soon as it arrives - then once its cleared do they start to look at your application

Avon & Somerset took a total of 16 weeks to grant my FAC & SGC coterminously- still I have them now :(:yes::lol: which is all that matters

I Live in Staffs - My experience of Spring 2009

Took 1 week to get an acknowledgement

Took further 3 weeks to get appointment booked

Took further 2 weeks for them to visit (very friendly lady)

Took further 3 weeks to get license

Overall 9 weeks - would have been 7/8 weeks but their special printer had blown a fuse

Thought this was perfectly reasonable (minus printer delay)

I applied 13th Feb and got my cert today so about 3.5 months in total, visit was only last week so with a bank holiday in between i'm impressed.

My GP caused about a 6 week delay but happy it's here :hmm:

Force is Thames Valley.

Tayside Police: 2 weeks & 1 day ??? ???

It would have been only one week had I not been away on holiday for 4 of those days so the FEO couldnt come round & the bank holiday held up the post for it to get back to me.

The FEO was wanting to come round to inspect after 19 hours of me handing my application in at the station & he had already been to see my reference!

:good::yes::lol:
