Well just wondering what mods people do to there 4x4's.

I bought a little Suzuki Jimny and getting some new lights for it so far. But in the future going to get some chunky tyres for it so I can go off roading. Take out the back two seats and make room for my equipment and dog. Not sure about anything else yet got to think about it, thats why I am asking you what mods you have done to yours so you can give me more ideas.

And its just 4x4's Im wanting to know about, no vauxhall nova car with a bean can on the back.

Add pictures of my car in a while

What kind of off-roading are you doing? Enough to warrant significant modification? The 4x4s I run don't have any more mods than AT/mud tyres, steering guards, seat covers and revised electrics. I certainly don't have a need to cock about with winches, bull bars and spots. Adding high-lift suspension, wide tyres and other kit worsens on-road handling.

I'd just swap the Jimny's tyres for ATs and be done with it.

The thing is going offroad isnt quite the same without the winches, bull bars and spotlights :hmm::good:

Now I know its not a jimny (its an SJ) very very similar so, yo wanna aim for something like this :lol: ...

On my Def 90

full mud terrain tyres cant beat them, when fitted went for an 85 profile which gave me at least an extra 1 1/2 inch lift.

front and rear diff gaurds well worth it.

egr removal kit fitted increasing mpg slightly and giving a little more torque

9 inch spots fitted also wrap around bulls on the front.

rear fitted out to cater for the dogs.

it all depends on what you want to use it for ? but it would look well cool lifted 2 inch , bigger wheels and nobbile tyres , snorkal and a whinch on the from lol proper job :good: but its all down to what your going to use it for if its just going across fields it should be fine as is :good:

I put some decent tyres on my Frontera (stop laughing at the back!) so that it would actually go over the mud on my permission. I also turned the passenger footwell into a bin so that I can dump spent cart, cans, sandwich packets and fag butts into it.

Future modification will be a wired-in inverter to the back of the load area and a decent remote lamp on the roof. It has a standard rear diff guard and a decent-ish sump guard, so that's ok, but i'm considering a 3@ lift on the suspension as it tends to drag a bit on the tracks up at the farm.

Finally managed to get my Trooper stuck in't mud today - I think more beacuse of the road tyres thananything else. It's a mum's taxi during the week but mine at weekends for shooting, so off road tyres not really an option. I understand that the off road jobbies are very noisy at speed and tend to wear quite easily (as well as being damned expensive)

I fitted my Jimny with a set of General Grabber AT 2 tyres 6 weeks ago, 72 quid each, tries it out in muddy fields and she just cruised through. The only other mods are I removed the back seats and cut a piece of MDF to fit, it now takes all my pigeon / Crow shooting gear no problem.

i have a defender 90 with a 300tdi in it.

only mods are snorkel, frint diff guard, steering guard(still to be fitted) and mud terrains. it gets used for shooting and playing in the mud which is my other hobby.

got plans for some more mods including a lift, rock sliders, bigger mud terrains, and a winch eventually.

here she is quite clean:
