Slight Accident

Well today a friend of mine decided to take my other friends lexus for a spin around a camp site. Everything was going well until he lost control and hit a caravan. Immediately afterwards the occupiers of the caravan came out and pulled him out of the car after kicking a piece of it off. They proceded to lay into him busting his lip, nose and leaving him with a concussion. He did have some drink in him at the time. Now the lexus and caravan are wright offs and the owner of the caravan is adamant that it's going to cost £1000 for my mate to buy it. The police were involved and have left it as a civil matter. Where do both parties stand?

-Does my mate have to buy the van (maybe risking court??) The caravan isn't worth £1000

-What about him getting assaulted?

I'm just curious as to what you guys think about this. Seems a bit of a sticky situation

Not sure that things work the same over on that side of the pond but...

I say he buys the caravan and then goes to the police and files every charge related to the assault that he can and sees them prosecuted to the fullest extent.

He can't walk away from the accident but assault cannot go unpunished.

IMHO he deserved a good kicking. Driving around a camp site drunk!! There are kids on camp sites, if he managed to hit a caravan then what would he have done if a kid had run out from behind a bloody caravan.

Really makes me sick.

Would have to agree myself. That's my outlook on it

i thought it was an offence to drive over the limit anywhere even private land, which by the way a caravan site isn't, find it hard to believe the police walked away if alcohol was involved and a car had justed crashed!

How i see it is:

1)He shouldnt have been driving while under the influence. The fact he wasnt on a public road is immaterial because there were members of the public around along with their possesions.

2)He should pay up cause he broke something which didnt belong to him.

3)He was lucky to get away with a fat lip.

Are we talking travellers site or holiday site ?

If a travellers site then that would explain the police walking away,as they dont "do" travellers sites for reasons only known to them.

If it was holiday, then your mate is a prize pr1ck and deserved a kicking and should have been arrested and got another kicking and a fine and another kicking and banned for DD and finally got another kicking.

It was a public camp. He wasn't really going that fast but I think where he hit the caravan done the damage. It was near enough on the towbar attachment thingy :good: I never seen it happen but I looked out after the big thump and it looked like the lexus was part of the caravan.

If I was your other friend who lent him the car I would of gave him a kick in as well.

idiot

Well the owner of the car never knew anything about it until it happened. He was sleeping at the time, but he did get an absolute grilling about not looking after his keys
