pavman
So like it says along with around 50 others Mrs P got laid off and told she may not get the two weeks pay for may already done and holiday pay due, She had to reg with DHSS for some reason and went for 1 hr to be told she cant claim anything as I still have a job,,, If she was Polish or some Muslim refugee never paid a penny into the pot 6 kids and had no home she could claim a shed load of Benifits, she has never claimed a penny before and paid Tax for 20 years.... IMO its not just the MP's gravy train that need reform

MC
Tell me about it Dan, I got made redundant a few weeks ago and it stinks believe me. I have paid Tax and NI for the last 20 plus years and I was told that I have too much in the bank and am not entitled to anything. That too much in the bank was a few hundred quid. I feel for anyone who gets made redundant as it is one massive kick in the nuts.

I thought you just need to show that you don't have over X amount in your combined accounts. MS
MC
I don't know to be honest, I wasn't even asked how much I had, it was based on what I should have after earning what I did last year. It sucks whichever way you look at it. I have been fortunate enough to find some contract work and am working from home so no fuel costs or travelling time. It is only for 3 months but it better than nothing. I'll have to see what happens after that.
rocksaplenty
What hacks me if off, is that if a man and a woman are not married she would could get full benefits, capital gains relief on a secound property (if you owned one), if you ran a company you could pay her dividends to reduce your tax liabilities etc. It used to be that the government gave support to those that choose marriage. lineshooter
I`m in the same situation too, spent an hour on the phone answering aimless questions only to spend another hour answering the same questions in my face to face interview, then, get this I sign on a few days later and instead of recieving a payment I get a letter saying I`m not entitled to anything because being self employed I`ve paid a different NI stamp than if I was directly employed. What a waste of everyones time and effort, I never expected a fortune just a little help til I find a job. Never claimed anything in 30 years, paid taxes when asked and this his how the government treats its citizens/voters. I feel for everyone thats looking for a job right now only hope it gets better for the genuine people soon. Good Luck to everyone job hunting Kevin

She will at least get full benefits. On a more serious note, its bad news to hear that. My bundle of rags got laid off two weeks ago..... She's lost a stone already-As you know I am a man of my word....If you don't work you don't eat in my house. Regards P.S If you want anymore homelife tips, drop me a pm. I say I got a safe job but I bet other people who have lost there jobs said the same. What we need in this country is change a revolution, Im not voting Lab Cons or Liberals in the European election as there all the same. What we need is everyone to stand up and fight for eachother fight for our rights and fight for common sense that this government has not got. Im not moving country thats the easy way out I am staying I am gonna help this country out when the time comes and thats only a matter of time. Bluebarrels
Its shocking mate, how the people in office are treating us all,if they spent as much time and effort doing what the country pay them for,and less time fleecing the system, then we would find ourselves in a better place,Britain is just Britain now im afraid, because the Great has been knocked out of most people, about time they all Bungee jumped of Westminster bridge without bungees Edited May 19, 2009 by Bluebarrels

Jan147
Hope Mrs P gets fixed up with something. I know exactly how she feels, I was in a similar situation in February, Im single and i am still waiting for the tribunal to hear my appeal as I got turned down for Job seekers allowance. I luckily got a job after 3 weeks but when I appealed had to fill in loads of forms to justify my claim, waited then they wrote and asked me did I still want to carry on with my appeal, I said yes, then got another letter asking me did I was to attend the tribunal personally, or get someone to represent me, or judge my appeal on the documents supplied or did I want to carry on with my appeal. They just try to itimidate people into backing down but I have carried on out of principal. Never claimed in my life before but the way I was treated has really ..... me off. No wonder people are fed up all I asked for was what I was entitled to, maybe I should have asked for expenses for my island I am planning to build in my garden for my ducks I havent got, but a slime ball MP got £1000 for building one for his ducks!
