So why do you all do it then?

I say everyone to their own, but you just cannot be expected to be treated the same when you choose to look different from the norm, as there will always be someone who has an axe to grind.

I wasn't complaining about how people treat me, I'm happy with who I am and where I am right now.

You ask why, well what is the point in any piercing really? The same question can be asked of a lady wearing pearl earrings, why? What's the point? The same answer would apply, it's decoration. What's the point in having carved stocks on rifles, they don't do anything, they don't add anything to the performance, so why bother? Because somebody thinks it looks good, it's decoration.

It's tradition not to attend a funeral dressed as a clown.

I am amazed how any topic can be turned into ."class war".

De ja vu?

What about a non PC answer of I wouldn't take anyone who was not appropriately dressed because I would be embarassed.

It's not PC to say that you wouldn't go out with an ugly woman or one which weighted 30 stone, no matter how lovely the inner person. The nuts and bolts are, its embarassing.

So, just because I have a boat anchor and chain dangling off the end of my old fella, you wouldn't take me shooting :look:

Snobs :look:

Chard, if you could drag that anchor round my permission on a hot day, I'd _pay_ to watch you shoot with an anchor and chain attached to your todger!

Stuart, seriously, there's a lot of snobbery in shoots like that. When I got invited on a driven day I had to go out and buy a new pair of trousers and a tie (yes, a tie!) so that people would actually want to shoot with me again. As it turns out, i was a bit too successful at hitting the flying things, so I got grumbles and have not been asked back, but hey ho.

Isn't it a shame that so many people have to judge others by their appearance! Sure some of the vandals, thiefs, hooligans and criminals that we see around nowadays have body piercings and tattoos, but a bigger proportion of these "undesirable" people do not have any of these, you could pass them in the street and not bat an eye lid. It's all too easy to label people by their appearance or to "tar everyone with the same brush" without realising that there is a pleasant, polite, inteligent and helpful person underneath the clothes they wear or the colour or condition of their skin! Even for those who "might have made mistakes in the past", people need to realise that it is possible for a "leopard to change his spots", and that people can realise that it is possible for some people to turn their lives around and end up being responsible members of the community!

I am ashamed to say that I was possibly one of the most desirable people you could have wanted to meet many years ago, yes I have criminal convictions, yes I was often described by my family as having "Trouble" as my middle name, but things are differnt now. Thankfully my FEO is a very fair man and can see that what happened a great many years ago has no bearing on the person that I am now. All right, I have tattoos all over my body (Which I regret now), I have a past history that some might see as very undesireable, but before you try to label me (Or anyone else come to that) try to spend some time getting to know who is underneath that "undesireable exterior" before you write them off as trouble.

The sporting community in general is often so obsessed with whay a person pooks like before they are willing to give them a chance.

Stuart, I sympathise with you, if ever you are in "my neck of the woods" I would happily take you out shooting with me, and hang what anyone else might say, you are no doubt a better shot than me anyhow!

My daughter has justed taken one of those stupid things out as getting a decent job means looking smart problem is docters have told her the whole will never heal and the only course is ear reshaping. So as with my daughter NO NO NO i wouldnt take you anywhere.

Once you stretch past 8mm there is little chance the hole will shrink back and you will end up having them cut and stitched.

First impressions are everything. So if you look like a freak show, you're gonna get treated like one.

:P

Exactly, if as a bloke you walk around with a swastika on your forehead and a spider web over half of your face can you seriously wonder why people may judge you in a certain way? Likewise, if your a lady who wears a low cut top with your bangers out, don't be too surprised if people stop and stare. In the meantime, lets get our copies of the Guardian out and remiss at how unfair, cruel and judgemental the world is
