Its like my step daughter who is a midwife got a job that needed a reliable car so she leased a Mazda. First service at 7000 miles they said it needed new front brakes and pads. Being a lease car she had no choice or leeway, and they really charged her a lot.. This I think is part of the culture with Mercedes, For the past few years they have been heavily promoting lease deals to shift their cars to business users. And with these customers they feel able to do and say what they like. Its not my car syndrome. People just put the bills back into the company accounts dept to be paid.- If you look on the Mercedes Approved Used website you will see there are hundreds of cars on there, all three years old and all 30,000 miles. These are all the ex lease cars that have come back at the end of the agreement. The trouble is the list is getting longer because I don't think they are moving them.

I'll tell you, she lives just up the road

Mercs are usually heavy cars, RWD and many are high performance so they get through rear tyres fairly quick but not that quick! Maybe a C63 AMG might there are a couple of owner club websites that are incredibly useful I found
-
The three week old tyres they con you into changing go onto one of the "Approved Used" cars they are preparing for sale usually
-
Gordon it is still commonplace, find a reputable independent Mercedes specialist. Most new Mercs going through the main agents are company cars on lease and they just try it on. They have a very bad reputation these days

Badgers are another creature that are becoming urbanised

Gordon I am going to a shooting club tonight, thats a 25 mile round trip mixed urban and rural, both ways in the dark. If I don't see at least one fox I would be very surprised
-
Gordon, you have only seen 20 foxes in your life? I can see more than that in an average month. They walk round here like they own the place, if they see you they just give you a glance and carry on walking. Some of the urban dog foxes grow very big because they live so well, but they tend not to live long.. 22" at the shoulder does seem a but excessive, 18" maybe

I didn't say anything of the sort, you asked me why we switched to Honda and I told you

I've been active in the Mercedes owners Club website for many years. Hopefully offering advice and sharing views on things. The last few years, it started slowly but grown to a tsunami of complaints about electrical problems and error messages that the main agents cant clear on modern cars. Its like they have overstretched

No why would we ever want to buy German cars? As somebody who has driven German cars for over 30 years I now recognise their day is over. Mercedes and BMW owner websites now are just a catalogue of owners complaining of mysterious electrical problems and error messages that the main agent dealers can't deal with or clear. Japanese cars are so much better build quality, I now drive a Honda CRV and my OH has a Honda Jazz. I don't mind prices and taxes going up if the money goes into the UK treasury and eventually we pay off our debts. Better that than the money going into the money pit that is Brussels never to be seen again.
-
Or we simply would not buy from Germany because why should we? i Thats not complicated or controversial is it? Their loss not ours

I understand very well the principles of International trade and I also understand that the EU is a massively rigged market. To get out of that I don't mind paying more tax if it goes into the British Treasury to pay off covid debts. If German goods are uncompetitive thats hardly our problem is it? There is nothing that cant be bought elsewhere and cheaper A lots of the present "level playing field" controversy is about the EU still trying to control us and keep us out of the free market. The reason for that is they know that the free market is so much better for us and they don't want other member states seeing us doing well.
-
We would be able to licence and regulate who fishes in our waters and how much they catch. That is something that doesn't happen now. Plus pretty much everybody seems to believe that the Spanish and French authorities turn a blind eye to transgressions like exceeding quotes and undersize fish.

Considering we now know what the political aims of BLM are. Defunding the police, abolishing prisons etc I lost respect for the cause and believe a lot of genuine, but not necessarily very astute, people are being manipulated. The Agenda of Black Lives Matter Is Far Different From the Slogan | The Heritage Foundation

"you can check out any time you like but you can never leave" From day one the EU has never tried to negotiate a deal, all it has ever done is try to dictate its terms to us.
-
I would rather be paying more taxes that go to the UK treasury and used to pay off the covid debts than give it to EU
-
I do genuinely believe that, maybe not 2021 but over time. But for the first time in many years I do not drive a German car

Having lived in several, its not that bad

No im not saying that, cars imported from outside the EU are subject to 10.8% import duty by the EU which the UK doesn't get. HOWEVER, the invoice price for a car imported to UK from France and Germany is higher than it should be because of something called price balancing. Which means roughly they overcharge us because we are a captive market and they can get away with it. Even allowing for VAT etc and local taxes there are a lot of places in the world where you can buy a Merc or BMW cheaper than you can here. Once we stop being a captive market my guess is they will have to offer us the same discounts and inducements as they offer USA, Canada, Middle East, South Africa etc or we will just buy from Japan.
-
We have always had to pay 10.8 % duty on imported new cars. The money goes direct to Brussels. Stealth tax Cars should be cheaper after we leave, or at least a lot more deals being offered

Its a bribe to make sure they behave in prison. Oh yeah, I nearly forgot, and to save money too.

This was happening on Bodmin for years then suddenly it just stopped
