This really gets to the core of why we were right to leave Europe. There is no ability within the EU to negotiate anything. Its all about the self interests of the individual member states.

Liverpool, + Labour Party, people must have short memories if they are surprised the legacy of Derek Hatton's era lingers He's been arrested too apparantly Back in those days they didn't even keep it secret,

Biggest problem with Eastern Europeans round here is no insurance on their cars but the police seem unwilling to challenge them. They do seem to have a naughty gene.

There are a lot of things like that now. It always bugged me that when I used to pay for my prescriptions that they would only give me small amounts at a time..

does anybody actually believe that scotch eggs represent a substantial meal? or is is just a P take? I'm with the police on this, chuck them out of the pub, the pub landlord says its harassment, I say its sound policing my mate told me of another place offering beans on toast for £1.50

I knew a bloke who twenty or so years ago perfectly legally imported antique and obsolete guns and drillings from Czech Republic he was an RFD totally legit, he had contacts out there who he bought them off. Many had been hidden away for decades during the communist era. Several times a year he would arrive at Dover with his car loaded down with the stuff and never ever got stopped. It just goes to show how easy it could be Of course the people he was buying off soon realised they could get more for the guns than he was paying them and it stopped being worth while.

I used to work shifts with someone who also ate raw onions like an apple. Then he would **** like an elephant and stink the whole place out. Story was he set the smoke detectors off once

When I was in America we often used to meet up at a place called Shoney's for breakfast. It was a serve yourself buffet and there was a big choice. The combination of things my workmates would put on their plates was weird to me. They would get pancakes, drown them in syrup then put bacon and scrambled eggs on top

Pubs are doing beans on toast for £1.50 to get round the meal requirement so my friend told me last week

Yes but "normal" vaccine development the delays between stages are mostly dead time because the world of academia keeps long holidays, three weeks at easter, two weeks at christmas and two months in the summer. The timescale involved large amounts of delays while people "read the notes" before commenting at leisure. forcing these people to do it NOW is not cutting corners
-
No the vaccine does not give you a muted version of the illness. Thats old vaccine technology

If people just stuck to the rules and didn't behave like complete idiots none of this would be necessary. so many critics but nobody yet has come up with workable alternative

The trouble is once you have one covid patient on a ward you can't put anyone else on it. So yes there are empty beds but that doesn't reflect need. My friend has has a serious cancer operation two weeks ago, but was sent home almost immediately. In normal times he would still be in there.

The people who worked in these shops had 'proper' jobs, albeit not very well paid jobs. They did however have employment contracts with holiday pay, sick pay and pensions. Plus they enjoyed the employment rights and protections that unions fought hard for us to enjoy. The jobs that will replace them will be gig economy jobs on zero hours contracts in massive mail order distribution hubs. Then the goods will delivered by 'self employed' drivers working in the equivilent of modern day slavery. This is the reality
-
They expect us to continue to pay them the subsidies they were getting before they left. Wasn't that what they called Independence Lite?
-
It probably has but nobody is keeping count
-
Trouble is nobody seem to be following your commendable standards of behaviour Gordon

If the first genuine country you encounter wont even give you a form to fill in to register and totally blanks you at every level what are you going to do? its tactical, countries like Italy, Spain Belgium, and France just keep moving them on

Legal Aid is a very important principal in British Democracy. Don't under estimate the underlying significance of a poor man being able to have a voice to speak for him in court. It is fundamental to everybody having at least a reasonable chance of equality under the law. Something that did not happen before legal aid. However, my personal experience as a former magistrate was that many scumbag low grade solicitors milked it as a cash cow. Nothing related to immigration just fairly routine sort of cases blown out of all proportion. Requesting endless ajournments on trivial grounds (waiting for reports or medical assesments that were themselves a waste of time and public resources) clogging up the court process causing endless delays on technicalities like the defendant cant attend court because she hasn't got childcare arrangements in place., , Defendants putting in a sick note on the day of the court case leaving several witnesses and police officers hanging about wasting their time. None of this would prevent the final outcome but it meant that the dodgy lawyer gets another days fees paid for, Delays, time wasting, costing hours of court time all to boost the legal aid bil that he can claim and thats his only motive.
