Just down the road from me is a big comprehensive school. I'm told they go to a lot of trouble inside the school to do things properly but at 3.30pm there are hundred of kids queuing at the bus stops and hanging around outside the shops further down. Like a swarm of locusts. All the older kids not wearing masks Where is the social distancing ?

o me its a bit like saying between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day you don't have to wear a seatbelt, or stick to the speed limit. Everyone knows people will die as a result but Hey! its Christmas! stupid doesn't stop being stupid for five days

As a landlord with many years experience i can tell you a few things 1) The big long term earner was capital appreciation, Thats going to be at best dead and at worst property prices are forecast to drop 20% in next few years post covid. 2) Changes in tax laws have had a huge detrimental effect on profitablity 3) Much harder to evict bad tenants and so many tenants are losing jobs through no fault of their own 4) Landlords are getting out of letting like rats deserting a sinking ship in their droves its not a good time, that ship has sailed

Planning question - building gazebo near shared boundary
Vince Green replied to djrwood's topic in Off Topic
If thats more than 12m of paved area and you are covering grassed area you need permission from Thames Water (bizzarely) in this area and they charged us £500 to come and issue approval when we built a patio area.on one of our properties a few years back. The inspector was there about a minute. If the uprights are more than 6ft high they will likely write to the neighbours and invite comments. Its always bests to go to them before they come to you about a complaint. They are box tickers -

That would probably need checking with the planning dept round here but it wouldn't or shouldn't be a problem getting it OK -

Not in most parts of the world they don't. They treat you according to your ability to pay -
Its all about cost. Watch 1917, its a fantastic film but a huge amount of it is computer generated

My kids cousin is currently in hospital with covid. She is a teaching assistant at a school where 14 staff tested positive. It is believed one member if staff was the source.

To be honest both of these are rubbish replies. You seem to be trying very hard to justify a position that is not justifiable because putting it simply you are wrong, and you know you are wrong but you have dug yourself into a hole. "me thinks he doth protest too much" If you really didn't care you wouldn't have replied

I don't see why anybody should get a knighthood for just doing something they get paid a lot of money for and then going to live in a tax haven. He works for a German company in any case.

Trumps court cases are collapsing all over place but its the Republicans in America have traditionally prevented black and other minorities from voting. Remember over there you vote for all your civic officials including police chief. In places like Alabama with high black populations they simply weren't allowed to vote, hence the Civil Rights Movement.

At last some facts, this is what we have been waiting for

The more we know about how its being transmitted the more we understand how we can modify our behavour to prevent it. All knowledge is power as they say. But I have been to the supermarket tonight, I tend to go later when the place is less crowded. Still people not wearing masks, not using hand sanitiser or keeping their distance Its not rocket science -
Explain how this guy get 21 million of our Taxes ?

In America a lot of government supplies, even quite mundane stuff like ballpoint pens and toilet paper has to be bought from American companies and made using american materials. Thats not protectionism is just being smart so they can't be held to ransom. There is a law in the US, I don't know what it is, Something like the essencial supplies bill. But whatever it is,we need the same law over here. Why the heck are we buying theatre gowns from places like Indonesia when Manchester is the land of cotton? Then they shaft us when the demand goes up British companies employ British staff and pay British taxes and its not a win - win situation its a win - win - win. can't be outbid by whoever. If Brexit is about clawing back soverignty lets do it You dont need to stockpile PPE if there is a factory producing it just up the road thats total babble, sixty words and nothing said -
https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-supermarkets-most-common-places-visited-before-positive-test-latest-data-12136418 That wasn't so difficult was it? I don't believe people are sharing all the guilty secrets

I have an interesting insight into the workings of actually getting trucks through the port of dover. A very close friend of mine imports kitchens from Germany, 1-3 truck loads a week and exports cast iron baths around 1 truck load a week. He has said all along the paperwork required before Brexit and the paperwork required after brexit is exactly the same. The only difference after Brexit is that a computer generated charge will take place. He has said all along these stories of miles of trucks queuing in Kent has no justification based on the process being made more complicated. Just more expensive Free movement of goods has never meant undocumented passage of goods so there should be no food shortages

Another example of the police making their own rules.

That happens with all fines, a huge number never get paid but the courts don't have the resources to follow them up the same as community orders, lots of offenders get let off because its hard to find things for them to do and / or they don't have enough people to supervise them -

Drop in the ocean, fraud in the Foreign Aid budget is believed to run into billions https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/britain-loses-300m-in-foreign-aid-budget-to-fraud-without-noticing-q58pn3ngn -
There is more chance because the EU has practically killed off our industry and when you hear the story from the people affected it was pretty blatent. Ted Heath agreed to terms that were, with hindsight, absolutely criminal.

Its an all male occupation. Women can't go out as crew on a fishing boats because they cant urinate off the back of the boat actual quote from a Cornish fisherman when the nets are out you can't nip downstairs to use the head (toilet) and leave everything unattended for ten mins so you have to dangle it off the back of the boat

Buzzard shot down - caught on camera
Vince Green replied to ehb102's topic in General Shooting Matters
Rough shooters dont shoot buzzards and would be easily identlfied. The first thing they would do surely is get the police to check out who had permission on land near by. The thing that concerns me is that I dont see why they were filming it in the first place. The bird was miles away and they just happen to be filming when it got shot? what are the chances? Or did the bird just drop on a prey and they dubbed the sound of the shot on afterwards? I film a lot of shooting on my phone and on my camera, the shots don't record like that. The phone clips the sound down to a funny sort of dull thud because it has a sound limiter.. Not even close up shots and that shot was a long way away. I call that as an edited on shot, listen again and see what you think -

You would have to be pretty stupid to shoot anything on or adjacent to a nature reserve. Reverse the question who would be out there shooting in the first place? and why? People with shotguns don't just wander round on the off chance
