  1. Some say more some say less . truth is nobody knows. The thing that was scary was how quick it killed people.
  2. It may not be this one, it may not be the next one but it WILL come, its only a matter of time
  3. My son who is a teacher says Greta Thurnberg is being taught/ discussed in school like she was some sort of quasi religious icon. Same thing indoctrination.
  4. What the Labour Champagne Socialists and old school Commies failed to appreciate about uncontrolled immigration was that it was exactly their core voters, the "real" working class, that were losing the battle against the pool of cheap labour. They paid the price for that mistake at the ballot box. There is no such thing as a minimum wage when you are getting paid cash in hand. Its just take it or leave it.
  5. Yes but the point made above by Walshie is right, its all cash in hand. As of tomorrow that's going to start to change. My mum's Hungarian carer has had to quit working for us because she has to get a proper job on paye with a provable income if she wants to stay in this country. And the bar is set quite high, she recognises she is going to have to get multiple jobs to meet the requirements. I think a lot of car washes and fast food restaurants are going suffer, so are a lot of care homes etc
  6. I agree, its always amazed me that the big chains like Starbucks, Costa and Nero sell a premium priced product but use a really cheap tasting unpalatable coffee. McD and Burger King do better these days than they once did but there is no real excuse. People are much more discerning now..
  7. The EU has always been the Fourth Reich, at the end of the war when they knew they were going to lose prominent Nazis and German industrialists met at the Maison Rouge (called the Red House by the CIA) to develop a strategy for after the war. What they decided on bears an uncanny resemblance to the EU. Coincidence? I don't think so
  8. The problem for me with coffee bought this way is that its too hot to drink immediately
  9. The old Labour con about redistribution of wealth has worked very well for them from after the 1st World War up to the present day. The mugs that vote for it believed that they would be on the receiving end. Somehow it never happened, no surprises there Wrong Daily will kill Labour faster than an ounce and one eighth of sixes
  10. When you go to work abroad you have to understand the rules change. Its their country and their rules
  11. That is so true, they really do exploit the kids and their parents. For every one that makes it through the system another hundred will be ruthlessly cast aside.
  12. Its a very labour intensive business, true they are on every street corner but the average spend is very low.
  13. The centre of St Austell has just completely died in the last seven years or so. It has a precinct which wasn't the best but adequate in its own way. Shops fell empty and the pound shops and charity shops moved in but even they are going now. Locals call it St Awful. My Stepdaughter won't even walk through it on the way to the station because of the vagrants etc that sit around on the benches all day
  14. Endless football banter is very draining. because its so one sided. No fan ever admits their team was in the wrong.
  15. Gordon, they will never ever stop whinging. The only thing they have achieved so far is to absolutely convince me that leave was the right decision.
  16. They also say they can't take cash because of money laundering legislation.
  17. There are some very convincing scams doing the rounds at the moment. I would hesitate to transfer money to somebody I had spoken to on the phone.car Also, registering the car in your name is not proof of ownership
  18. That would be such a silly thing to do, It might be rough on the people stuck inside but a lock down is for a reason.
  19. I buy almost everything I can off the internet now
  20. Every other year will be OK as long as you are not using cheap oil but on another level of debate, take it on a good long run several times or more a year. Leave the Rolls in the garage, Cars are like women, they thrive on being used and abused. I used to take my mother's car (Nissan Micra 1.4) down to south wales (from London) several times a year just to stretch its legs and it used to run so much better. Touch wood its never failed an MOT, Plus it used to do about 48 to the gallon against my Aston's 19 to the gallon (if you drove it light) it was a cheap trip and actually more fun to drive,
  21. Yes Steve they are very good, and they will last a long time. The primers are crimped, I just give them a quick twist with a 3/8" drill bit to take it out.
  22. Face masks are a bit of a red herring, you are most likely to pick up the flu virus first on your hands, then transfer it to your mouth eating a biscuit, sandwich etc. Supermarket trolleys, grab rails on public transport, door handles, lift buttons etc are the risk areas, buy hand gel
  23. I rarely re-read a book, I am an avid reader of history and politics but I will never get through my wish list. My OH re-reads lots of books and re-watches DVDs over and over. Several she must have read ten times. My niece, an Oxford Masters Graduate in Literature reads a book every two or three days but can recall minute detail of books she read years ago If I ever find the time I would re-read Orwell, hugely perceptive author.
  24. Give it a look, he's actually very good in it. Its not like you are going to put any money in his pocket by doing so. Keep your friends close but your enemies closer. Much as I hate to say it, its an issue not many presenters would go near, it is a huge issue, I don't think he hit the real nitty gritty but hey?
  25. Yes you are right, but the world population is more than five times what it was in 1919 and many of the people live in huge conurbations that are just ripe for an epidemic to rip through them like a forest fire. That wasn't so much the case in 1919, so when it comes it could be so much worse.
