Even in 1918/19 the virus spread around the world like a wildfire. Scientists still cant work out how it broke out apparently spontaniously in far flung corners. So what chance do we stand today?

Strange facts, Pizza as we know it today is not Italian, it started off in the poorest neighbourhoods of New York and Chicago. Because of fire risk the tenants in high rise apartment buildings were not allowed to have cooking facilities so had to send food out to cook houses at the end of each road to be cooked. The Italian immigrants sent their food on a Pizza (actually a flat metal cooking dish). The rest as they say is history, its probably the most easily recognised food world wide. That no cooking ban probably did more to kick start the whole fast food industry than any other single event. Kebabs are not Greek, they originated in India but British troops took the idea and the name to Cyprus

More likely to be an accuracy issue if you want something to worry about. Heavier pellets often (not always) more fussy. My rifle hated them, only way is to try some. If anything your ft lbs are likely to go down rather than up because your velocity will be probably less The only way with an air rifle is trial and error

A lot of the data for the initial ban came second hand from somewhere in America that was much more heavily over shot. Also the integrity of data was suspected of being dubious. A lot of the statistics appear to have been plucked out of thin air. Also the 1991 Ban in America only covered Federally owned wetlands, everywhere else is still ban free. I doubt a lot of American hunters are even aware of it.

Some years back when we ran business awareness courses for our staff we used to do benchmarking exercises, That basically meant taking other businesses and breaking down their business costs and profits plus all their overheads into a spreadsheet format. Pizzas always came out as being incredibly profitable compared with the cost to make them. That's why there are so many pizza restaurants and franchises.

Environmentally, the idea of kiln drying wood to burn it is plain crazy. But Hey?

I use Parcels 2 Go, sent something to my son recently it was £3.50 post office wanted £13. Hermes is rubbish but they are cheap. They use housewives and OAPS to deliver parcels in their own cars. As my stuff is never valuable that's not a problem.

They will just sell it "for making garden features" -honest guv

No there isn't any enforcement round here
-
I think all "tree surgeons" sell off their logs. Good point I hadn't thought of that
-
I cant really generate any interest, it all seems very contrived.

Greta Thernberg is a social media influencer and she is reportedly making millions Yes but you can bet George Clooney never bought his one
-
Seems to be aimed at petrol stations. At least that's what it would be round here
-
You can still use smokeless fuel like Welsh anthracite, just not the cheap 'dirty' high sulphur icoal they sell in petrol stations. Should be a bit of a boost for the few remaining South Wales coal mines To be fair, all the reports I have seen focus on the sale rather than the use

I've posted this on here before, round London 'poor' people burn skip wood and old pallets. There is a window company about a mile from where I live, they put all the old wooden window frames and door frames in a skip out the back. People come and take it away to burn it on their fires. They are not going to stop.

Mentor wanted in Hertfordshire area
Vince Green replied to Westley78's topic in Shooting/Ferreting/Beating Wanted
I have found over the years that its who you know that gets you shooting. Marsh man is dead right about joining clubs (plural) and networking off the contacts you make. -
I keep retiring but then I get bored and embark on some crazy scheme or other, buying houses to renovate etc Since retiring I have joined two local rifle clubs that shoot in the evenings, one shoots some day times as well I enjoy the shooting but they are both very sociable places. Made a lot of friends and we now organise occasional days out, usually to museums with a military connection, or shooting shows etc .

No Henry, where is your proof? France I am sure would not accept them back at any price but your basic theory is sound. It would send a message and over time it would stop the flow

About twenty years ago the law was very different, adverse title (aka squatters rights) meant you really could claim title of land if you could prove you had been using it for a number of years. Key word here is using. However a number of scammers saw this as a get rich scheme and set about claiming land by dirty tricks and stealth. So the law was changed Land registry records rarely if ever contain dimensions so there lies the devil in the detail. Right of way is another consideration

Solicitor every time. Deeds are rarely (if ever?) that accurate and if your boundary has been established for a number of years its yours. Whatever, you need proper advice not opinion

Although the wealthy are able to milk the system they do have to spend or invest their wealth eventually so the money goes back into the treasury one way or another.. It may not go back as income tax but it goes back as fuel tax, VAT etc and their money gets spent in shops and restaurants etc keeping the economy bubbling and paying peoples wages. On the other hand, most of the Eastern Europeans I know are working cash in hand and taking their money home because it has four times the buying power back home. I can't blame them for that, if the roles were reversed I would be doing the same no question. However, we have to examine the economic impact of the two different situations. Money that stays in the country goes round and round, even if the treasury misses out on a bit of income tax here and there it soon generates more tax when its spent.. Money that goes out of the country in bundles of notes is dead money. Nobody benefits except the country it ends up in. I don't think people in this country fully realise just how much money goes back to eastern Europe. Britain is the largest single "employer" in Poland. In Romania 25% of its entire GDP comes from Britain. I don't have figures for Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia etc but I have no reason to think there is much difference. Most of it is invisible, untrackable, that is THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM, stopping unskilled immigration is not just about flooding the job market with cheap labour, its about the real hidden cost to the country. A distant relative of mine is a time served carpenter, A wonderful skilled man, twenty years ago he was earning £100+ a day fitting kitchens. Today he is earning £80 a day doing the same job. The customers are not paying any less. He voted BREXIT, can you blame him?
-
I think that's true for a lot of people, possibly even most people
-
To be fair to him its mostly to do with their work ethic.

A friend of mine only employs Eastern Europeans, he will be devastated.
