  1. Chatleys do larger size suits of a good quality
  2. ^^^^^ This the last thing her lawyers want to happen is for her appeal to succeed. That would be the end of the money trail
  3. The Hottentots was the name given by white settlers to one of the tribes in South Africa who lived along side the Zulus and the Matabele but they referred to themselves as The Kegali. So the word has become considered racist. For many years it was used as the official name for the tribe however we call the Inuit people Eskimos so is that racist?
  4. Why do we need a mayor? It should be a ceremonial role rather than a dictatorship
  5. As a londoner born and bred I don't get a sense that he is following a Muslim agenda but he is definitely pursuing an unacceptable Environmental policy and pushing it very hard. Also he is allowing the unions far too much slack and criticising the police at every opportunity despite being in charge of them. In truth he is in hock to the looney left for his support
  6. I know, inconsiderate bloody people. And the NHS suffers from the same problem
  7. This is correct, its a ponsi scheme. When it was introduced in 1909 (originally as the old age pension) it was only a very small number of people that lived long enough to collect it. Those that did only lived about an average of a year before they too died. Today its all got a bit out of control
  8. Purdeys are probably Hull Cartridge Co. They made cartridges for everybody back then.
  9. There is no such thing as democracy, there never has been Starmer should never have got himself in that position in the first place. It shows a lack of political judgement. very clumsy handling of the situation. Hoyle was wrong to try and bail Starmer out
  10. I think it was called Judd"s if I remember correctly. We always knew it as the Fishing Tackle Shop because the sign above the door just was 'Fishing Tackle" in very big letters .
  11. Its too early in the year for them to be nesting yet surely? They are classified as an at risk species though
  12. He has some very dubious backers
  13. So I am told. Hangovers and legovers. This was vintage car shows but without revealing too much detail I know it was an 'experience ' as you describe it.
  14. Where I grew up in London there was a double fronted fishing tackle shop. The owner was an absolute gentleman. So patient with us lads and our endless questions and our pocket money purchases. Plus he kept all the stuff you needed. Not just the high ticket items. Advice was bottomless and free. He is gone now, wiped out by customers who would come in and ask about (say) reels. Jack would show them all the reels and discuss the pros and cons. Then the customer would go and search on the Internet and buy the same reel for £5 less Jack was very bitter at the end. He lost his business but also his life's work
  15. This is the facts of it. My friend (distant relative) used to sell vintage car stuff which didn't carry a big profit but doing the vintage car shows got his name out there and he met and networked with a lot of people and made a lot of contacts. This would bring in business as and when but what he did was unique. He rebuilt speedos and other instruments. Fuel gauges, temperature gauges etc and some aircraft stuff for classic cars boats and planes. Then came covid and everything stopped. Now the shows and events have restarted but the price of a stall has doubled, trebled or more. He simply can't afford it. He's wiped out but he used to enjoy the shows for the social side as well as the business it brought in. Once a two or three day show closed for the night and the people went home the stall holders used to party like mad then open up the following morning again like nothing happened
  16. A lovely shotgun it should be worth a lot more but unfortunately the market is what it is. A bargain for someone
  17. I think you are very nieve if you are trying to find much difference between the two words recommend and require. The fact that this 'recommendation' has appeared out thin air with no discussion or previous consultation is what we should be talking about. It's my experience that recommendations and guidelines are immediately adopted as "the law". So many examples in the past. Why has the General Licence got any conditions at all?. Why are there conditions applied to the shooting of invasive species like parakeets?
  18. Written by A) idiots not competent to understand the issues OR B) malevolent little dog poops deliberately introducing ambiguity and killer terms into the wording that can later be used to promote malicious prosecutions . Eventually killing off the subject because a few prosecutions will scare off hundreds of regular honest shooters who are not prepared to take the risk .
  19. The Muzzle Loaders were very active in their response and I do feel sorry for them because a lot of their firearms cannot use anything but lead projectiles. When did you last hear of anyone getting murdered with a 200 year old flintlock musket? They do shoot them to keep the memory alive but what? 20 rounds a year? Not a lot of lead there
  20. My last two renewals were on line.
  21. Make pigeons a quarry species and all this carp goes out the window
  22. There are a lot of us that didn't know any different This is another classic example of the old trick of moving the goal posts by stealth and doing it sneakily so nobody knows until it's a done deal. Now again we find ourselves fighting a faceless Civil Servant somewhere who decided on a whim to make up laws without recourse to parliament. Same old same old Make them a quarry species and we can by pass all this carp. 100% essential if we are not going to face endless persecution
  23. DeFRA requirement. See GOV .org General license read down to the bottom. Total bollo, i know, but don't shoot the messenger, I didn't start this. But if my interpretation is correct and its all a bit vague. It's the landowner that could end up in court. The antis will be on to this now
  24. The GOV.org website General Licence. Pigeons can only be shot to protect A crop after all other possibilities have been exhausted and a documented record exists of the non lethal attempts that were tried. That record must be kept for minimum of three years and produced when asked.. But once they are legally shot you are free to sell them
