Can the police make such rules? Probably not but when has that ever been an impediment to them making up rules on the hoof?
-
I know, but i don't run the clay shoot. I don't know why it hasn't been done. Mutterings about its not as straight forward as that. But there are quite a few clay shoots around here that are SGC holders only So its not just our club

The club didn't make the rule, the police made the rule. The club needs to get an exemption certificate but for some reason that has never been done

Its not just about the lead issue, Shotgun sales have been slow for a long time. I suspect a lot of people are just packing up for a number of reasons Most likely just cant be bothered to jump through all the hoops at renewal time Our club runs a clay shoot once a month, we used to get sixty or more people turning up a few years back. Now its just maybe twenty on a good day. One of the reasons is the silly rule now that you have to be a SGC holder to shoot. That makes it almost impossible to bring a few friends or family along to have a go. So the new blood isn't coming in and the old blood is getting older and giving up.. There is zero chance of getting permission to shoot on any of the farms for miles around so what are people to do? .

Country Pursuits in Rickmansworth
Vince Green replied to Vince Green's topic in General Shooting Matters
Thats what I was told, he's not prepared to renew the lease so its a natural time to call it a day. A shame though he's been there a long time But when you consider where he was, in prime London suburbs and he had it all to himself. You have to drive a very long way in any direction before you find another shop like that. You would have thought he would have been sitting very comfortably. -
In Cornwall the mackerel is still too far out for spinning off the jetty . but the boats are catching plenty How about treating him to an hour mackerel fishing trip, they are about £15 here in Mevagissey so probably about the same where you are he should catch a lot of fish which will greatly focus his interest

I am told by another RFD in the same area that Country Pursuits in Rickmansworth is throwing in the towel. They have for a long time specialised in bulk sales of cartridges but see the lead ban as being the death knell for that business. Already sales of everything from clothing to airgun pellets has ground to a halt and they are giving up. erui a

My Uncle Harry was Sapper Harry Green, no 3 Glider Pegasus Bridge. 249th Airborne Field Company Royal Engineers.(6th Airborne Div) They were then rushed across to the Ardennes forest to fight along side the American 101st Division in the fighting described in the book / film Band of Brothers. Despite fighting tooth and claw along side the 101st all the way through that winter they never got a single mention in the book or the film. Just whitewashed out of the story. In fact the 249th Historian Xavier Pradelles says many of the yarns "claimed" by the 101st were actually not them at all but the 249th

Many of the wounded on the battlefield died of thirst. Lying out there in the sun calling for water but couldnt be reached. My grandfather was on the Somme in 10th Btn Warwickshire Regt, part of19th Division. They captured La Boiselle on the 3rd day. then went on to High Wood.to dig the intermediate trench that allowed 47th Division to capture the wood.

I remember seeing them advertised but I don't think we ever actually bought any.

The two RFDs nearest to me have both got no powder and no primers at all now. At this rate things will grind to a halt

I still dont believe that Virginia Roberts was the sweet innocent victim in all of this, as she portrays herself. Why would Epstein and Maxwell go to all that trouble to entrap and corrupt her when New York was full of professional call girls available 24/7.on speed dial. I believe she knew exactly what she was getting into and is now making millions out of it.

I believe that to still be the case. MPs too

Its classic text book left wing tactics, create a grievance and then work it every chance you get.. In this case the claim that Westminster has been bleeding Scotland dry for decades. Stealing "our" oil is a popular one but its not true. Virtually none of the oilfields are in Scottish waters, they are way out in the North Sea

Before the last vote my aunt (who then lived in Langholm on the Scottish Borders) opened her door one day to a man in a kilt with a clip board who told her that if they were to get independence they would have so much money they would be able to double her pension. She believed him and voted yes. She wont be voting next time, she has died since, but I bet that bloke with the clip board will be back knocking on doors again if they have another vote

My mate has always been into his boats. He has often said as soon as there is a hint of a recession all the for sale signs go up in the marina. Luxuries and hobbies are the first things to be cut back on when things get tight

Primers powder and bullets are all in very short supply All down to the importers not wanting to pay the prices that are being asked for shipping I am told. Whether that's true or how much I don't know
-
Another problem that we are finding with our monthly rifle shoots at Bisley is that shooters are dropping out because they can't hold of the powder, primers and bullets they need to produce their ammo. Shortages are right across the board now. And you cant just say well if you cant get what you want use what you can. These people have a lot of time and effort invested in developing their loads, especially the long range boys. They take it very seriously. Even if they were prepared to switch powders or bullets, the alternatives are not available either. Its a slow strangulation, June's shoot had to be cancelled

Anyone ever been friends with a Murderer or the like?
Vince Green replied to Boromir's topic in Off Topic
When you consider that when I was growing up in the 1950s Virtually every adult male in my family had killed somebody. Often many people in the course of their military service. This must be true for many people on here -

A bloke I worked with, years before all this happened. He was one of our sales reps. Good at his job but seemed a bit quiet. He lived with his dad although he was well into his 40s and could easily have afforded a place of his own. We heard he killed his dad, beat him to death during some sort of nervous breakdown and ended up in Broadmoor. Years of deep seated resentment apparently and it all became too much. Just a sad story -
Mind you don't cut beyond the boundary, even by accident its criminal damage. Even though you don't get on with your neighbour its worth trying to talk to him first
