  1. Even if they see another duck get shot it just folds and drops out of the sky. Would they associate that with sudden death? Probably not in the same way as witnessing one of their group getting ripped apart by a fox, and carried off?
  2. You ( and a lot of other people) miss the point that man made Co2 is only at best 20% of the total being produced. Far bigger forces are at play, way beyond human control. We are not helping the problem but we are not causing it either. If we cut our whole world emissions to zero tomorrow it would not stop what is happening. Buy houses on the top of hills and fit air conditioning is my advice. Millions will die in africa but who actually cares??? Absolutely nobody Vast tracts of North America, Canada, Greenland and Russia will become more inhabitable and capable of sustaining agriculture. Which equals more valuable. You can buy land in Alaska for $5 an acre at the moment. Invest now.
  3. Most of these protesters are poor little rich kids having a naughty day out so they can post selfies of themselves to their friends. Very important to establish their street cred at their private school before they return next week Look at the timing, the week before the schools and colleges go back. That says it all
  4. Just thinking out loud for a moment, a duck wouldn't understand being shot at was a mortal threat because its beyond its comprehension what being shot at means. Its just a noise but nothing happened other than a noise, Now a face to face with a fox, thats much more real. Thats in their DNA
  5. No these are one man bands, working monday to friday. A £100 k a year is peanuts As I say, a window cleaner can earn more than that
  6. No one bloke and a Polish or two usually. But my mate Pete will do a flat om his own in a week. No trouble. £100 k a year is not big earnings. I know window cleaners who earn more than that
  7. £2500 to paint a flat in a week is standard, paint is not that much. on top, they buy the mega buckets. two blokes gone by friday. If you need to strip wall paper £4000. and three blokes' But you add £10,000 to the value of the property
  8. I will repeat again without wishing to offend anybody. As a property developer here in London painters and decorators are top of the tree, they charge the most and and are hardest to book. Electricians, plumbers, kitchen fitters are two a penny by comparison.
  9. Under all those feathers the body size of a pigeon is much less than a pheasant. Probably close to a quarter.. Thats why, pattern density is everything, I always used 7s There are a lot of holes in the pattern bigger than a pigeon's body at 40yds with 6s Try it for yourself The great advantage with clays is that when you miss you can repeat it over and over again till you get it right
  10. They probably just bought the detectors off the internet and thought they would go off to see how they worked.
  11. Unlike most trades decorators can directly add value to a property so are always in demand by landlords and estate agents. Tatty house? get the decorators in, spend £2,500 and add £10,000 to the value of the property. Thats why they can charge so much, and they do
  12. The ducks in our local park were disappearing over a long period of time and then one was seen swimming around with a crossbow bolt sticking out of its back which rather settled the question of where they were going. People will steal ducks except they often dont regard it as stealing, they just see it as wild food, Same as collecting mushrooms or blackberries in the woods . Lots of them round these parts go after the crayfish
  13. Oh don't get him banned please, I enjoy his little lapses
  14. The French won't take them back without paperwork, and thats the perfect catch 22 get out because there wont be any paperwork. . As the French rightly say the British have no proof they came from France, they could have come from Belgium or Holland or been dropped off by a Spanish trawler. This is part of the reason that the French are extremely careful not to give them any form of documentation at any stage in their journey. That way there is no proof they travelled through France. The migrants are even told by the people traffikers not to have any supermarket receipts from France in their pockets that could give us enough evidence to return them. Its an elaborate game of cat and mouse. The French don't want them there but they know the migrants don't want to be there either. Are they really trying to stop the dinghies sailing? or the lorries being boarded? I don't really see how they could fail to notice nearly 900 people clambering into boats on Saturday. But apparently they did! Yeah right
  15. I witnessed the immediate aftermath of the Papa India plane crash at Staines in 1972 that would definitely be one on my list
  16. But those coming through legitimate migration channels are completely irrelevant to the present discussion. I don't have a problem with them.
  17. oowee as usual is forgetting that every assylum seeker has to be housed, fed, ,clothed and given spending money by law and that their cases often take ten years to process. Thanks largely to the exploitation of the legal aid system by corrupt lawyers . By which time they have put down roots, got married etc. Even bought a cat So its not 6% its another 6%
  18. That is very sad news, I liked him . He spoke about his cancer very openly and very bravely
  19. One who has himself recently migrated to this country in an uncontrolled manner, perhaps?
  20. Oh sticks and stones Henry, you can do better than that
  21. The trouble is, if the authorities are going to do it properly (ie within the law) its a massive job to investigate and disprove even one claim for assylum. So the sheer numbers work massively in their favour by overwhelming the process. The shoe should be on the other foot. It should be up to them to prove they have a case rather than us having to prove they haven't.
  22. that more or less answers the question then. I very much doubt parts would still be available if you did choose to go down that route. Are Roberts saying they will definitely fix it or is that just to have a look at it?
  23. That is not what lifeboats should be used for. They are a charity, manned by volunteers and supported by public subscription
