  1. its likie comparing a cart horse with a race horse, apart from being horses theyre totally different.
  2. might affect some people (they trade in the uk as well as the roi) http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0330/quinn.html
  3. when i got my 22lr i asked for fox, it came back with "sporting purpose and vermin control" which i was told by my feo included fox. when i had my interview a few weeks ago for the 17hmr i asked for fox on it, i was told by two feo's that the psni have no official line of fox calibres and that it would be ok. when i got my licence back it had the same wording on it for both rifles - "sporting purpose and vermin control"
  4. very few semi's like 21g carts (lets see how long it takes for the usual "i have a beretta/benelli/etc" semi and it cycles everything inc 1g carts replies ) imo 21g carts are best used in manually loaded gun - s/s, o/u, pump, etc. and yes, i owned a benelli montefeltro and it hated anything under 32g one thing though, with a semi you should be able to load higher gram shells than a s/s, etc, before recoil gets too much
  5. one piece of no 6 being isonly a worry when you ingest it whist it is travelling at a 800 fps in your direction thats cos ur missin and the birds are just dyin of old age anyway, i digest. or digress. or direct. cant remember, perhaps sum1 can point out the right one? anyway. 1 piece of lead aint gonna harm you if u eat it. if such a small amount of poison could harm you id be dead long ago from alcohol poisoning. which would be incredibily inconvenient for me, as id have to cut down my drinking. and wildness. and stuff. meh.
  6. was covering in the pub all wknd, finished as 2am and went on the drink, got up at lunch time, went in for another few hours so my body cant even tel if its morning or night time ah well a few vodkas will soon get things settled and ticking over
  7. is it the ones with a mv of about 700fps? if so they are the WORST KIND! first, cci subs dont have enough power to cycle the bolt of the 10/22 - i know this after having to recock after every shot a couple of weeks back. i had 100 that i wanted rid of, got p'ed off by the time i fired off 60 secondly, theyre the dirtiest rounds ive ever come across, couldnt believe the amount of powder they left in the breach, around the bolt and in the trigger mechanism. i thought i could get away with a quick clean but after a nightmare yesterday im going to have to do a full strip down and scrub later tonight. get rid of them asap
  8. can pick them up for next to nothin on ebay, also found a fold up game back on there for about £15, its handy but any bag would do
  9. the cci subs are very quiet, though are the dirtiest rounds ive ever put through my 10/22, left powder in the trigger and everywhere!
  10. it depends what you want to use the gun for. i bought one for my 10/22 before i even had the gun if you want something thats fun and compact then go for it, but as has been said the trigger in them is awful, youd need to do alot of work to it. on top of that the stock is all plastic, so mounting scopes is useless as they move all over the place. if you really want a bullpup try these guys - http://minioninc.com/dixie/index.html i spoke to them a couple of years back and theyre willing to ship to the uk, and the stocks are metal. not sure what the triggers are like. heres a pic of one, and theres loads more pics in the galleries ps if you look in the lp4 gallerry youll see theyve even come up with something allowing lefties to shoot the bullpup without messing up their faces (unlike the army, who just tell them to use their right hand )
  11. now that looks nice - http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/EVOLUTION-MA...p/610-456-a.htm cheers mate ill keep you in mind, wish id known that earlier as i bought one of these off evilbay bisley recoil pad not sure how well itll work but ill give it a try
  12. go for a marlin, got mine last week and seriousley impressed
  13. cant, im sitting in work gonna wait to see if marlin get back to me first with anything, if not then ill be trawling the web for something that i can modify
  14. thanks, i was afraid that was going to be the case
  15. ryanair, on a wing and a prayer
  16. surprised no-one said this, but you should be able to take the trigger housing out easily enough (usually one pin and it falls out), that would be easier than messing about with forends (which leaves the gun still usable), lock the rest of the gun to the car using a bike lock, etc, and jobs a good one
  17. i need an extended recoil pad to fit my marlin 917v, ive worked out tonight that the stock is about 1" to 1.5" too short for me. ive sent marlin an email to see if they have any extended pads or can point me in the right direction, i also spent about an hour trawling ebay/midway/brownells/google and cant come up with anything, so im hoping someone here can help. ive seen plenty of slip on type ones but really would prefer something that screws on and replaces the existing plate, like i have fitted to my ruger 10/22 (here). i appreciate any help ps should also say the end ot the stock is straight and the plate/pad is held on with two screws, thanks
  18. oh **** yes out on saturday and monday, cant rem sat at mo, think i got one rabbit () but monday i got two rabbits, one 50 yards (freestanding) and one 100 yards (leaning on a wall), missed a greyback at 170 yards tho, saw the round hitting 2" below it and spooked it, very happy so far though interesting to note, it was quite windy on monday, the round dont seem to be as affected by the wind as much as i was led to believe
  19. just something to think about. quite a few people saying they wouldnt shoot big cats, etc. why? most happily shoot pheasants, crows, etc. now i dont understand this. ok, you cant eat lions (like crows), but in some places in africa theyre classed as pests (like crows), so whats the difference between shooting them and crows? surely a lion should be more acceptable to shoot, as its got a "sporting" chance of ripping you to shreds if you mess up, whereas a crow will simply fly off??
  20. everythings got its plus and minuses, but nothings better than seeing a big grey back (hooded crow) crumple through a scope or spiral to the ground after a 12ga shot, especially after seeing lambs that have had their eyes pecked out
  21. Crows are fun to shoot. I have a powerline that's about 40 yards from a stack of bails that's really comfy to shoot off. Always has a crosswind that makes the shots extra satisfying when the spiral to the ground without knowing more info i dont think any of us can pass much judgement, but assuming theyre using an airgun i cant see it doing much damage to a power line unless he repeatedly misses and hits the line (in the same place alot). he says he's shooting from a stack of bails, well how high is the stack and how low is the lines? doesnt necessarily mean he's shooting up, and even if it does how do we know the pellet will leave the boundary of the land? only thing i would have a problem with is the wording about crosswinds and it being extra satisfying when they sprial to the ground, is it satisfying because its harder to get a clean kill?
