I bought a CZ.22lr from them about 15 years ago and had promosed myself that, because of the great service,If ever I bought another new gun I would give them my custom.Last August I ordered a LH Browning 525 with 28" multi and awaited delivery. After 2 weeks I rang and was told that there were no guns of this spec in the UK and that they were ordering one from Browning in Belgium (who had just one left). After waiting a further 4 weeks I rang only to be told that Browning actually did not have an example and that I would have to wait for delivery of the next production run.I cancelled the order and rang Avalon guns the following monday morning.Gun arrived that thursday-they simply swapped the stock from a LH 30" and put it onto a 28"RH gun.

Fox, rabbits and pigeons need taking out near Canterbury
bruno22rf replied to samh28's topic in Sporting Opportunities (Free)
"Taking out"-what would you suggest?Dinner and a dance then maybe a little horizontal jogging later on? -
Aylesbury eh?-I would leave it in the boot of my car with a little bit showing and park it somewhere on Southcourt, bout an hour should be ample. Then claim on your insurance

Apologies for straying from the OP's thread-last comment,Ghost. You are correct in your statement,Kent,PCP's do not rule the roost in terms of sales volume, but nor does the Lamborghini Gallardo in relation to the Ford Focus, but which is the better car? I am also impressed by a decent springers ability to achieve an 8fps variation over a tin of pellets, but when,In your shooting career, has this been a major advantage?besides,I am sure that it could be done with a PCP by extending the air chamber if such a feature were a necessity.Respect to you,Kent, for an adult exchange of views without resorting to petty insults-this forum needs more members like you,ATB-bruno.

My reference to the "introduction" of the PCP was not in relation to the OP's requirements rather a response to your post regarding the fact that not much has changed-PCP's may well have been available in Roman times but how many were in existence?Cars were available over 100 years ago but did'nt really make much difference for 60 years to the average Joe.The PCP rules the roost now, like it or not,and you would stand out a mile in a top level competition if you were to use a springer, with the addition of a regulator the shot to shot variation of a PCP is negligable.I'm going to email Weirauch and ask about the barrel droop on a 35-I have never seen one without it?As for mods to your HW80 to make cocking quieter-I used to wrap my left hand around the breach before tapping the barrel down if I needed a second shot at a Rabbit-works a treat but then I;m a cheapskate. Not sure where the reference to the gas ram came from-I certainly never considered changing my spring for one but that was a long time ago and I struggled to change my pants with any gusto back then.

An AA S200 is so gentle on scopes that you dont need something designed for a full bore rifle. If you research scopes you will also find that a 40mm lens transmits as much light as you will ever need.I would stick with a 40mm and concentrate on getting it as near to the barrel as possible (using the lowest mounts you can get away with)the benefits in accuracy will far outweigh the "advantages" of a bigger scope.Great choice of gun btw.

If you were to watch me shoot today you would be forgiven for thinking that its my first shot ever

"Nothing much has changed in 30 years?" Kent? Did you miss the introduction of the PCP? +The HW35 does'nt "suffer" from barrel droop-the gun was made that way and purpose built one piece mounts are the way to go.The 80 is a giant killer in the world of Airguns and I used one for near 10 years until I replaced it with a .177 Original 45,a gun that has remained one of the most under-rated Airguns of all time.As for .22 being a better killer,Kent,I dont imagine that either of us want to go there.....

Classic,Wimberely .Apologies to OP-its not youir fault m8,it was a fair question but this forum is beginning to get boring so people (me included) are keen to inject a little humour-no harm intended.

You will have to spend a lot of money to buy a gun that will outshoot the S400/410-and even then they might be prettier or have a higher shot count but where it matters,in the field, they will need the help of lady luck to out perform you.Your son made a wise choice
-
Glad that you have found a rifle that you like, just dont challenge anyone with a 410 to a competition!! In time you will realise your mistake and I am willing to bet that if,in a couple of years time, you answer a similar post to your original one on here, you will advise the member to buy the 410.
-
My advice would be to at least pick up a TX200 and try it-then get one in .177.If you cannot find one then HW80 or 97 come close-the 90 has a gas ram and is just added hassle.Other guns to look out for-Original 45,BSA Mercury S,Annie 335 (would need tuning),AA pro sport or pro-elite (rare as hens teeth but worth it if you find one)-dont be afraid to buy online-the distance selling regs mean that if,for ANY reason ,you are not happy then you can return the gun.MOST gunshops are trustworthy these days and cannot afford bad feedback.

As I'm off work recovering from an operation I managed to drag my S400 out of the cabinet and out into the garden today. It has not been used since the first Sunday in September so was not expecting too much.Very first 5 shots at a measured 25 metres=3 nines and 2 tens on a standard 25ft Air gun target-well pleased.

You will need to be cautious with something that high-it will need safety bars to prevent children falling off as well as safety flooring-I would suggest that you get the "Ship" inspected by someone before you let kids on it-be very wary as you would not believe how parents can turn to legal action if little Timmy so much as steps on a nail.

Two recent topics on this forum (Immigration and Rahman) have both been locked.Would this have been the case 10 years ago? Who are we so scared of upsetting?

Think like a pigeon-you say that there are large numbers so when birds enter the field they expect to see large numbers feeding,if you only have a handfull of deeks then that could be something to consider.Make sure that the birds have easy access to the pattern i.e dont put your decoys upwind and close to standing crops. With shells its best to use the spring pegs if you dont already have them and the flocked decoys are by far the best.
-
As far as I know, all meter makers are happy to send you free meters-up to 3 is not a problem. They make their money on the test strips that your Doc prescribes for you-they will also supply replacement batteries free of charge.
-
Even capacity wise then, the BSA is less than half the gun that the AA is.
-
Carrot decoys would be best in the snow but you need to switch to Lettuce in early spring.Tesco do carrots with the leaves still on which are effective on a magnet but fix them carefully-my mate failed to do so and whilst bent over picking up a box of shells a large organic Carrot flew from the magnet and you can guess the rest.Get well soon Pete.
-
Do you have any mates who are Gas safe registered-if so ask them the most likely parts to fail on your system then buy the parts from Ebay-if your system fails you should get it repaired fast and cheap.I have done this for years-biggest bill was when the Gas valve failed-replaced from a used part in my shed and with a full service was £70-plan ahead and dont get s*****d

I cannot ever recall hearing anybody say that they would not use a train because it was too slow? Too expensive, yes, and who are all these people that need to get over the Chilterns an hour faster than before and how will that hour benefit industry (what *****y industry?).How about we give the £33 Billion (and lets face it,its going to cost more than that) to the Armed forces.

Dont forget that a flock of crows are called Rooks-crows are usually solitary birds and only flock together in small family groups before/after breeding or in bad weather-Rooks can actually be usefull so discuss the matter with the farmer.

I must admit,Chris, that uneven ground has caused me problems while shooting but wind? If that were true my shooting partner could'nt hit a cows butt with a Banjo.

Another Royal mail consultation?...
bruno22rf replied to Steppenwolf's topic in General Shooting Matters
Royal Mail-always good for a laugh-bout 15 years ago I bought a Brno.22 from a gunshop down south and when RM delivered it they left it outside leaning against the front door (the guy that delivered it had signed the book for me!!).And on it goes,I take some fairly potent medication that is delivered, speciel delivery, signed for only and it would'nt be the first time it had been left outside my door during the day-once in the pouring rain. When I complained we had so much post go "missing" that I wished I had'nt bothered. -
No comparison-AA S410.
