Just bought a nice Pedersoli s/s 12g muzzle loading shotgun and some Hodgdens triple seven FFG (black powder substitute) and shot and have been trawling Tinternet for a suggested load. One site says 80 grains of powder per 1 1/4 ounzes of shot whilst another suggests 100 grains. To add to my misery one site says to reduce the powder volume by 15% when using triple seven whilst the carton says to use it in equal volume to black powder !! I'm deffo confused.com.... Any advice will virtually guarantee a christmas card next year.

Its for my muzzle loader-used to use one for pigeon shooting many years ago (great fun cos if the shot misses them you still have a chance of setting the blighters on fire!) and just bought another so i'm stocking up on all the bits.

You would not be the first person to fire off 50 rounds or so into a bank of soil-its cheap enough to replace and keeps the FEO sweet until such a time as you are out and about again.

Just looking on the bay and seen lead shot at around £10/kilo (2.5 mm which is near no6) but its sold as ballasat for skuba diving.Would this be suitable for a muzzle loader?Anyone ever tried it?Is it a good price?

I would use Phosphor Bronze as its practically self lubricating and ideal for this type oif application. -
"Inside" the barrel where your pointer indicates is where the gas transfer holes are-they operater the piston to cycle the next shell.

Where best to buy reloading powder
bruno22rf replied to Kes's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
If you dont mind speaking to somebody who does'nt really seem interested in what you need and is then not sure if they stock it anyway then you could try Reloading Solutions-but I wouldnt bother if I were you. -
Cock it and leave it somewhere for an hour then see if it fires (without a pellet) the valve may need its seals replacing or could just be the pump seal worn and not creating enough pressure.Chambers show a diagram of the parts and stock spares.

FalconFN....."more of a marketing tool" I think that Ian Harford comes under the same title

Try using a more powerfull shell in your first barrel until you get it sorted-make sure the stock bolt is not a Torx.
-
Probably the "Wolverine"-IMHO a total waste of compressed air-comes in .303 calibre so not much use for Rabbits-buy a .22rf and save yourself a fortune

Apologies for my sledgehammer respose-hands up it was harsh, to say the least, -

Make sure you dont get a limited mileage policy-a lot of insurers hide this restriction on 4x4's.

Thanks Bob-I have decided to return the gun to the dealer-only just bought it and cannot justify spending more money on it.

My lads Hatsan will only cycle certain 21gram loads so I dont bother with them-with 28gram its so light on the shoulder, recoil wise, that we stick with the 28's.
