Anyone ever tried a "Weasel ball"?-I wonder if you covered the ball in grey fur and put said toy out in clear view (but within shotgun range)the crows would be interested enough to come have a closer look?

I cannot see any problem with you taking a slow walk around-the rabbits must be used to people walking around most of the time so should,nt be as jumpy as those who live right out in the fields.Keep things simple at this stage as you are just beginning to find your feet and you will need to know the land inside out before you try lamping.Keep your pace slow and ,as much as possible, the wind in your face-try and find a secluded corner somewhere to gut any rabbits that you shoot-this will be a good place to bait with a dead Bunny when you decide to have a go at the corvids.

Try putting a voltmeter across the battery terminals when the engine is running-increasing the revs should see the voltage increasing-simples.If your battery has not been charged and discharged regularly over the winter then its most likely u/s.

shooting permission wanted
bruno22rf replied to jason airarms tx's topic in Shooting/Ferreting/Beating Wanted
With an Air Rifle and no transport i,m afraid you,re going to have a job getting most landowners to take you seriously.Occasions where you will make a decent dent in the pest population will be few and far between and most landowners want results-fast.Some areas of the country are virtually impossible to get shooting on(and yet in some others its child,s play) so you,re giving yourself handicaps that you can do without by not having wheels-I understand that, for economic reasons, you dont have transport but I can also imagine the look on a landowners face when you explain the reason why you could,nt move the pigeons off his drilling was because the bus was cancelled. If you were closer I would be glad to help out but I fear that you are going to need a lot of luck. -
Cant stand the ********-A Gerry and a Greek who drain this country and are so out of touch with reality that it hurts. As for bringing in money-i think we would generate more income kicking them out of their palaces and opening the buildings up for tourism.

I know over 20 people who catch these horrid things and eat them-getting a licence is a waste of time in most parts of the country cos theres no native crays left.I believe that ,with a licence, you are only permitted on one particular stretch of water and you have to log/identify your catch.Catch as many as you can-use fish heads from your local fishmonger as bait and get the dam things out of the water-but dont make the mistake of offering them your finger-thems aint friendly critters.

What Duncan is forgetting is that my 2 pigeons were so high they were on oxygen and my 2 crows were so far away that they spoke a different language!!!!!Great day with great company and a few birds was just what the doctor ordered Duncan and that,s what I got.Must also add that the landowners in Cambs. are a heck of a lot more accommodating than those in Bucks-never had a woman offer to dress up as a French Maid and make us a cuppa before. Also I cannot believe that so many bunnies can sit around without being shot-for now Looking forwards to next visit already.

The point is,Mark-70,a .22lr is a rifled tube with a bolt and a spring hanging off the back which is then plonked on top of a lump of wood-the accuracy and power are determined to a large extent by the ammo you feed it-the barrel is obviously very important but companies like BRNO have been using the same rifling machines for decades and can produce quality barrels at a bargain price.Airguns,on the other hand, are a different kettle of bananas altogether. To make an Airgun capable of consistency and accuracy over a long period of time takes good quality metals and modern, expensive, (i.e. CNC)type machinery. In real terms Airgun makers are small companies and costs involved in setting up production lines to make top range guns are astronomical-this is why some companies put out work to other companies-they can save a few quid on parts but at the cost of quality(in my opinion) unless the supplier is a specialist-i.e. Lother in the case of barrels-in which case you aint gonna save any pennies anyway.SMK guns are o.k. if thats what you want or need but top quality items they are not nor do they pretend to be.For all those who might suggest that these ****** puffguns are on a par with any quality maker (AA,HW,FWB e.t.c.)should answer one question honestly-If money was,nt a factor which gun would you buy?
-
Have to be honest m8-bin it and cut your losses.Cheap spanish airguns are a pain in the rrr?s.Save your pennies and buy something decent-theres loads of great guns out there and its deffo a buyers market.

I was the proud owner of the very first black/red 350lc in the country. These bikes were awesome in their day-great fun when you hit the power band and even more fun when a lot of 750,s could,nt catch you.
-
Unless you are stoney broke I doubt that refinishing an average .22lr is worth the effort-you should be able to pick up a decent gun for £150 or even less.
-
Its a buyers market i,m afraid so I would guess around £350 if you want to shift it fast-why not keep it and buy a used BRNO .22lr? Cheap as chips and indestructable as well as more accurate than most men will ever need-have a look around your local dealers and see what they have,
-
Dont use flat heads on anything other than short range rats-dont use pointed pellets on anything with a heartbeat.Use a good quality pellet i.e. Crossman premier or AA field or similar and you wont go far wrong-if you are really concerned you can wash and lube them as well.I would hazard a guess that about 70% of pellets in a gun dealers are as much use as a one legged man at an rrrrr,s kicking party.

Never found that a Mod does a whole heap of anything other than add weight on a springer but you pays your money.....

I,ve shot with HW,s for more years than I care to mention but IMHO I think that they have been outclassed by the Air Arms rifles-this company never seem to put out a pup.TX200-Prosport and was,nt there a Pro-Elite break barrel?

Airgunners - Whats your zeroing method and what do you use ?
bruno22rf replied to Salop Matt's topic in Airgunners
Firing one shot and then altering the scope is,in my opinion,a waste of time. You need something firm but soft to rest the gun on then fire at least 5 shots at a target before you start fiddling with your turrets.Make sure that your scope is correctly mounted and that the crosshairs are set dead vertical to the gun.If you have a moderator fitted then take it off just incase its not true to the barrel-if your zero changes once you replace it then you know there,s a problem.Take your time and get it right-the confidence this will give you is well worth it. -
My money would go on the Air Arms s410-bin a very long time since this company have sold a pup.

Looking through the branches of the bushes in front of me I can see the birds from a good 3-400 yards away but as they get to about 100 yards off I start to slowly raise the gun-I normally have the stock resting on my foot.It seems to be this tiny movement that sends them scattering away but I have been shooting from this spot for many years and never encountered this problem before.Maybe i have shot all the stupid ones .

Thanks for the replies guys-post was more of a grumble than a cry for help but its very nice to see people offering advice. When i say complete Realtree i mean complete-only uncovered area was around my eyes-as for background-i was standing with my back to a thick hedge of Hawthorn with 6-7 foot high bushes in front of me.Going shooting with The Duncan at the weekend-if the pigeons avoid me again i,m going to take up knitting.
