There's a funny thing, I just sat down at my laptop and saw this thread and at the same time I heard the first Cuckoo of the year. I had wondered if they'd had to go into quarantine on arriving in this country from Africa?

When I've been in cammo in the woods shooting Pigeons and Corvids (not Covids) then I've seen Tree Creepers going up tree trunks just a foot or so away from me. So long as I stayed stock still it was amazing how close various wildlife got. Owls, Nuthatch, Deer etc. Loved it.

I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere but yesterday we watched a film called Contagion which was made in 2011. It was amazingly accurate on what is happening today. Some strong language but all in context and, as the film progressed, I had to remind myself that it wasn't a documentary. Recommended.

I got a bit of dust in my eye when he said that he was one of the few who could say that he'd seen Spitfires used in anger as well as peacetime from his time in Burma. £30million, No1 record, promotion to Colonel and 100yrs, not a bad week. I salute that man.

I was shooting Rats in a stable yard one night. I'd put down a punctured tin of dog meat and was stood behind a wheely bin next to a stable door. Three Rats, one ofter the other , ran out from under the stable door, over my boots and into a stable on the other side of the yard. Glad I had trousers on with tied twisters at the bottom. Stopped anything getting in, or leaking out😨

Just watched a nice film that I came across on Amazon Prime, got a free 30day trial, called The Lost World of Mr Hardy. It's under the sports tab. An interesting film about the history of Hardy fishing tackle, later in the film is some lovely hand fly dressing, and worth a watch.

In a part of Grafham Water called Savages Creek it is like floating down an African river with the trees full of them.

😁My wife has two but she has a massive stash of material that will be turned into something lovely 'one day'🙄 She works for the NHS and I've had to vacate the spare room, which was my model aircraft building room, and turn it into an office/ sewing room for her so she can work from home. Loads of 'brownie points'😇😇😇

Well, a promise is a promise. It's only taken me twelve years to get round to it. And anyway, I can't go shooting, flying models or fishing so, I hope you understand, I had to break the boredom somehow😁😇

I'm not in the least bit interested in men's football because I quickly get bored with them falling over and pretending they're hurt as soon as some one gets withing 2 metres of them or deliberately fouling as if a 'professional foul' is acceptable. The women just play football and, if they do fall over then they just get up and carry on. Proper sport.

Must admit, I have been wondering why they insist on having a journalist stood outside St Thomas' hospital. I know what a hospital looks like😒

Thanks for the tipoff. I've just taken a 30-day free trial to watch it. Stunning photography😊 I've only watched 2 episodes so far and I'm glad to see it's not sanitised like many programmes. It was nice to see the two little girls catching their first Trout and wanting to eat their fish, including the dispatch of the fish. I'm sure they will grow up with a great appreciation of the environment and balance of nature. Looking forward to the rest.

There was an ice-cream van round our estate this afternoon, I like his optimism. Not sure it's an essential business though🙄

I've just to town to get the basics and I've been really amused by the Corona Dance. Everybody shimmying around each other and apologising if they think they've come too close. Walking down there, for excercise, and people were stepping out of their doors onto the pavement then making a hasty retreat when they realise there's somebody there. Definitely got to be a comedy sketch in the future.

On a positive note, I must give a big-up to the staff at my local Tesco today. My wife is a nurse in the NHS so we were able to go down just after nine this morning to do a shop. I was amazed at how many people were there. Everyone had to produce an NHS card to get in. Problem was that they were still sticking to Sunday opening hours so we couldn't actually pay for our shopping until 10 O'clock so massive queue's formed halfway around the store by about half nine of people waiting to check out and it looked like it was going to be pretty chaotic trying to feed everyone into the tills. However, there was a Tesco worker who was not on shift, but happened to be in the store, and he stepped up and organised everyone into shorter queue's for each check-out, both manned and self-service and everyone got through in an orderly fashion. All the staff were helpful and everyone was given a free boquet of flowers. ( I know they were just over-stocked but still a nice gesture) Most people had fairly full trollies because they knew they'd have to get stuff in to last a few days but there was no bulk-buying and everyone I saw just took one or two of each item. Thanks Tesco.

Best wishes to you. My wife is a nurse but she has polycystic kidney disease so she's off work self-isolating because she comes under the 'underlying conditions' category. I have coronary heart disease so I've been social- isolating at my trout syndicate fishing reservoir😉

I had one years ago and for some reason I've got one of the ridge 'Y' pieces left. I can stick it in the post FOC if it's any use to you.

I worked at a place with a park nearby that had Walnut trees in it. The place I worked was an industrial yard with a concrete car park in the middle. Late summer was always a dodgy time because the Crows would fly over the yard and drop Walnuts onto the concrete to crack them. A few cars got dings in the bodywork.

disconnected landline minths ago, always spam calls. However, I'm sure my buddy must have installed bugs when he's been round here. The minute my dinner's on the plate, I've just put my jacket on to go out or I'm half way through an email or ...............................hang on, it's me mate on the phone, I'll be back in a minute ............................
