  1. The Coleman dual fuel stoves do the job! P1
  2. So with Greylags on the GL the irresponsible, opportunist cowboy will not shoot Greylags with lead shot? jackanory, jackanory, jackanory!!...........we are very close to a total ban on the use of lead shot for live quarry shooting in England and Wales (and probably throughout the UK?) thanks to our representative organisations past abject failure to protect shooting from the trap of accepting an unneccesary species specific element (only in England and Wales!!) of the lead shot ban bought about under the AEWB agreement, the protectionists must have been rubbing their hands? and here we are some years down the lead shot ban line, and certain elements within shooting will still not (and never have!!) comply with the law, and despite the threat continue to shoot ducks with lead! make no mistake a ban on lead shot is nearer than we think.....shooting Greylags with lead could be the final nail in leads coffin! and the protectionists will have won! Do we seriously think that the protectionists haven't orchestrated this (getting the Greylag included on the GL) .........I can only foresee bad press for shooting from this........if so it appears our representative bodies have yet again failed to protect the future of shooting.
  3. Go on then! I'll have it! paypal ok?
  4. Does anyone foresee a problem with these soft fibre/paper wad cups?.....for example: firing a 2 3/4 steel shot cartridge utilising these cups through a 3 1/2" chambered S/A? I imagine the wad cup could easily break up on firing whilst bridging the gap between the cartridge mouth and entering the end of the forcing cone (into the barrel proper!)? if this does happen and the steel shot comes into contact with the bore? significant damage (scoring) would occur to the gun bore.......ever considered why plastic wads designed to shoot steel shot are so thick? Just a thought!!
  5. Don't seem to be able to edit this listing? but.......these boots are now Sold Thanks!
  6. Guys, I have a pair of Australian handmade R M Williams Craftsman Yearing Boots, Black, in size 8 1/2 (42 1/2) G fitting, with lightly worn original welted leather Sole and rubber heel, one piece leather upper, these boots are ideal for town or country and look really great with jeans, They are from a pet and smoke free home and are in very, very good condition having only been worn a handful of times, they cost about £5 shy of £300 to buy.... For sale here at £90 + P & P + fees if using Paypal. More photos And more...
  7. If the gun has a barrel length of less than 24" it is illegal to sell it to a shotgun certificate holder or/and hold it on a shotgun certificate, the fact that a shotgun barrel has been shortened does not require it to be re-proofed, so there would be no requirement for it to bear extra proof marks over and above the original ones! P1
  8. If you have two identical new Cheddite 12g cartridge cases one 2 1/2" the other 2 3/4" both primed with cx2000 and filled with 21grains of AS powder with a 4mm card OP wad followed by a 19mm fibre wad, surely the area for the gasses to expand would be the same? any extra or loss of pressure would be dictated by the resistance to the cartridges contents (longer/shorter wad column) exiting the case and travelling up the barrel? the weight of the shot charge being the same shouldn't affect pressure? should it? Any resultant increase in pressure caused by a longer wad column could be mitigated by filler wads with a smaller diameter above the correct diameter 19mm fibre wad? couldn't it? On ignition the charge exits the cartridge case (which is retained in the chamber so is unable to expand laterally) and enters the gun barrel proper which replaces the cartridge tube in retaining the gas pressure in order to maintain the velocity of the payload as it travels up the barrel (the barrel is a continuation of the cartridge case!) I genuinely can't get my head around longer case same ingredients more/less pressure!!
  9. The object of any wad is not solely, but primarily to provide a gas seal, yes? the actual gas seal is (or should be!) made at the point where the wad (in this example a card OP wad) sits on top of the powder, so any part of the wad column (of similar type/weight) above this OP card(assuming the gas seals integrity holds) should thusfar, in theory have no impact on pressure on ignition! I can see when a plastic wad starts to compress (on ignition) into the voids between the wad cup and the gas seal will have some effect. But I am talking about the same weight of a given powder (AS) under a similar width solid card OP wad (the gas seal!) under a solid fibre wad, the same primer in the same structure/type (Reifenhauser) case (whatever its length) the same shot load (28g) all held in by a 6 point crimp closure.....I still can't see where the case length should make any difference?
  10. Surely there would be no difference in the space for the gasses to expand in! a weighed 21grains of Vectan AS powder would take up exactly the same space under the wad (behind the gas seal!) whether it be loaded into a 2 1/2" case or a 3 1/2" case? so how could the pressure increase? P1
  11. Hi, what make and constriction is the optima plus ported choke please? first dibs? P1
  12. Ok fellas, I see some on here seem to advocate a PT case with a cx2000 and 21g of AS under 28 gram with a plastic wad (as per C&G).......has anyone got a tried and tested formula for a true 65mm PT case with cx2000 using AS and a 28gram load using a card and fibre wad? P1 P.S. I note C&G 70mm 28 gram card/fibre wad formula advocates using 24g AS.
  13. Book received....... donation given.......thanks Gordon...top man! P1
  14. Hi, Are these invector or invector plus chokes? my Browning 425 Waterfowl uses Inv +? So If they are Inv+ I will take them please! P1
  15. Thank you Gordon! very generous gesture! donation will go in the local hospice collection box next time I'm passing! P1
  16. Hi, Anyone got any 12g extended Invector plus chokes for sale, I want them to shoot steel and non-tox shot. Carlson, Kicks, Teague, Rhino, Patternmaster etc. Also after Terror patternmaster choke or similar to fit Xtrema 2. PM me WHY? Ta! Paul.
  17. Yes please, if its still available? I recently got a second hand 425 so would be useful! P1
  18. I have used most types of fowling guns over the years.......single 4, double 8, S/A 10, S/A 12 (Browning, Beretta etc), double SBS 12,....got shut of all the S/A's now....for a variety of reasons but mainly because I couldn't shoot well with em (bar the Browning Gold 3 1/2" S/A 12 that is!) and safety wise...... you can't at a glance check down the barrel for obstructions, and because S/A's don't break so others cannot easily see the gun is empty!........... and annoying wise..... the empties were scattered over a wide area (and when picked up, were often contaminated with mud and salt water and rusted before you got home!......not good for reloading)........ and of course the empty cases are impossible to find in the dark! I currently use a12 x 3 1/2" O/U (and of course the 4 & 8 Bores!) early days with it yet, but the O/U 12 appears to tick most boxes for me............but if all else fails I still have my Midland 3" mag SBS 12 as a fall back...... Oh and the gun is finished in 'Duratouch' infinity camo.....so rust is not an issue! To remove rust (redrust!) I have used cabinet makers wirewool in 0000grade (I think it is?) soaked in paraffin/oil to good effect, without it removing the Blacking....but don't rub too hard/long!!
  19. Anyone have a Beretta Xtrema? could you please measure and post up the internal diameter of the front sling swivel ring? Ta! P1 Thanks ColinF....now sorted! P1
  20. Hi Guys, Anyone with a Beretta Xtrema 12 gauge S/A shotgun?....... would you be good enough to tell me the internal diameter of the front sling swivel ring (which fits behind the forend securing screw cap!!) Thanks in anticipation, P1
