  1. Too pricey for me bud but If you decide to open it to offers please contact me! Cheers, P1
  2. I will be out on the moor on the twelfth! wearing Meindl Dovre Extreme boots, no issues with these, comfortable "out of the box" and offer plenty of ankle support! P1
  3. Sorry bud but your making a rod for your own back for your whole future relationship by giving in to her!! I understand the pressure you are under but if shooting is important to you, hold your ground! If she is making 'no guns' a condition of you moving in she is attempting to control you! comply and you will likely be a doormat forever! A woman is attracted to a guy for a particular reason, once they get into a relationship with you they start trying to change you, once they have changed you they no longer fancy you!...........because you are no longer the guy they were first attracted to! If Confucius didn't say this he probably should have! lol!
  4. A cartridge is a cartridge is a cartridge!! what makes one better than another when similarly loaded and designed for a specific purpose? how do you get shooters to buy them? how do you persuade retailers to stock them? Price, price and again price....... I've just obtained 1000 x 12g x 65mm game cartridges, fibre wad x 30g x 6's they were advertised for £230 per 1000 if I could easily obtain similar loaded by George for less money....I would have spent my money with George! as I have no doubt Georges offerings are as good as any! P1
  5. Under storage and purchase of Black powder regs you can now, I believe, only buy it in 500g plastic containers? so I wouldn't be surprised if the 'powers that be' didn't want to restrict nitro powder similarily, they dont differentiate between Black and nitro but call it all 'Shooters powder'.....could the introduction of the term 'Shooters powder' be an underhand way of imposing regulations on the sale of nitro powder to homeloaders? Paranoid? maybe!
  6. WHY? has there been any public safety incident that has triggered this? or is this just another example of the UK government (or its agencies) showing they have power and control by regulation over its citizens? What are BASC (or other bodies that claim to represent us!) doing about fighting this threat on our behalf?
  7. you could answer...... That generalisation is a dangerous thing! In the same way as he claims "gamekeepers snare, trap, poison and bludgeon tens of thousands of animals, including protected species and domestic pets" you too could generalise.......you could reply that MP's are corrupt and steal millions of pounds from the country by fiddling their expenses, are involved in illegal and immoral acts such as bribery and corruption and are paedophiles who sexually assault children!.......of course not all MP's act in this manner........but then again neither do all gamekeepers do as he claims! What have his allegations regarding laying hens got to do with the value of shooting? Where did he obtain the data/information regarding the importation of Gamebirds? and where did he get his evidence that they "suffer immensely during transport"? if he cannot provide impartial evidence to back up his claims, and had any integrity he would apologise and withdraw them! +1 to send a copy of his response to BASC.
  8. Looking for the above, must be fully working and in good nick!......PM me? Cheers, P1
  9. Bu55er! missed this one! If the deal falls through Steve could I have second dibs? And if anyone else has one for sale I'm interested?? P1
  10. The degree of choke (constriction) can only be worked out by comparing the measured difference between the diameter of the barrels at the muzzle and the the diameter of the bores, unless you have a gauge that will measure both...............take it to a competent gunsmith who does! whilst he is about it ask him to measure the wall thickness of both barrels....and make a note of all the measurements for your records! its all good info! P1
  11. Don't think Kenzie wrote a book? Colin Willock (Town Gun in the shooting times) wrote about him in the book Kenzie the wild goose man! P1
  12. Hi Ian, May have just what your lookin for? have left you a PM on the Wildfowling Forum...........saw it there first!! P1
  13. The trick George is turning all this interest into sales!
  14. Thanks for the reply George, I thought I had missed something with copper shot! Nickel and copper plated lead shot I was aware of! probably supposed to work on the same principle as chilled lead shot which has a slightly harder outer covering (is diamond shot the same?)........allegedly supposed to pattern better and be less prone to deforming?? I have a fair supply of cartridges at the moment homeloads and commercially loaded ready for this season.....but would like to try some of your fibre Game cartridges at some point.........any outlets in the Birmingham area? P1
  15. George, New one on me! what's this about copper shot for grouse? isn't it a bit light to get sufficient shot into a short case? is this plated or solid? why use copper? what are the benefits? P1
  16. Nominal 8 bore is .835 if your gun is true 8 bore, and the barrel is in good condition that is the size you want for a wad punch, the Zoli will (I Imagine?) be light in weight so do not overload it, or it will be a bit lively! its probably stamped 2ozs of shot on the barrel? BP is very forgiving so volume measures are all you need, use the correct grade BP! Old 100% wool felt hats from the charity shops are useful for wadding material as is cork bathroom floor tiles. I made a ramrod from a length of 3/4" dowell (with a handle) to push thin wads down on the square, and marked it at the depth it came to (at the muzzle) when the gun was properly loaded (or not!!)........so you could tell at a glance! You can buy various types of 8 bore wads from Clay Game Reloaders (google them!) and you may get an 8 bore wad punch from Peter Dyson? I had a S/B Zoli 8 bore M/L many years ago.......good fun! but sold it and moved on to double breechloaders P1
  17. For the record, I have never tried to get into any of the clubs in question Double Bore, I know there would be little chance anyway because I'm not local! so I am not guilty, as accused, of moaning about not being allowed to join their closed shop. I am though complaining about the on-going parochial nature of some clubs and their membership because if all clubs had acted like them in the past wildfowling would have died years ago (I certainly would not be a wildfowler as I live in the landlocked Midlands) I have no issues with Brancaster or the common rights or any individuals who have paid to own them! it is a market commodity.........so when a share becomes available in the future it is open to anyone who is prepared to and can pay the asking price. The issue I currently have is certain members of the closed shop clubs in the area trying to sustain and justify their on-going selfish parochialism by muddying the water and implying that Brancaster is being 'stolen' in the same way they allege Thornham has been, which is obviously not true!
  18. Posted 11 June 2014 - 12:51 PM This topic has again served to emphasise the folly of the parochial approach some wildfowling clubs have followed for many years and continue to follow to this day....no one can join these clubs or even shoot their marshes as they are exclusively available to a few locals club members only (effectively a cheap syndicate!!)..........it worked years ago when the local club got the land for "tuppence ha'penny" but money talks nowadays and these parochial clubs will go under unless they adapt! I say to them, open up membership and the shooting to other wildfowlers outwith your area...... more members = more revenue = more ability to hold or compete for your shooting land, alternatively best enjoy it while you can, because I predict it wont last much longer! Kent or the RSPB or someone else (another syndicate with more money?!) will buy it from under you. It makes me smile when someone bleats that an open club like KWA are greedy!.....these parochial, closed clubs have been greedy and selfish for years! Quote MultiQuote Thought this might be worth re-posting! P1
  19. Or in other words...................I'm alright Jack Bu??*r You!
  20. I find it hard to believe BASC would tolerate their associations privileged knowledge/data/information being used by an individual for any club's private or individuals personal advantage/gain!? Is not such privileged information the property of BASC? and therefore protected by laws regarding intellectual property?
  21. Shooting pressure on these parochial closed club marshes? that's a joke, apparently on some of them, a fowler is unlucky if more than occasionally he/she meets another fowler out on the marsh at flight! Because these clubs (locals) want to keep the marsh to themselves they bleat about the "good old days" and issue dire warnings for the future when someone mentions increased rents! they seem unable to grasp/accept that a club with a small local membership can't (and never will!) compete financially with all but the weakest competition, and as time goes on will be ever less able to!.........they need to come into the 21st century....and quickly! All the Bullsh1te excuses in the world won't change the fact that these closed greedy selfish clubs are the enemy of and will hasten the end (already are!) of traditional Wildfowling, by their parochial attitude and selfishness they are playing into the hands of their perceived enemies such as other clubs, private syndicates and the protectionists. What do these closed clubs do to help and encourage the newcomer to wildfowling? what do they do to protect and secure the future of wildfowling?.........nowt!......so why would any wildfowlers outwith these clubs care one jot what happens to them, their membership or their land? who will shed a tear when they lose their land to whoever (even to the protectionists!!)? because it is unlikely any wildfowler apart from locals will ever be able to shoot there and enjoy the marsh on a day permit let alone as a member!!.........when an inclusive club such as Kent buys the land from under them and opens up opportunities for other wildfowlers then perhaps more fowlers than a few locals will care!? For these short sighted stubbornly parochial clubs "Fiddling while Rome burns" comes to mind. Sorry to digress from the original topic but this issue really makes my **** boil!
  22. Unless I have my sums wrong? if the gun measures 0.0056 (just over 5thou) and 0.0046 (just over 4thou) over original proof diameter measured at 9 inches from the breech face? if so it is enlarged less than the 8thou (.2mm) allowed and is therefore in proof, anyway the auction house are responsible for the gun they are selling being in proof, therefore if it ain't......there is comeback, they are liable! There are several books available with historic rules of proof in them but you could contact either of the proof houses to see if they have up to date copies of their "notes on the proof of shotguns and other small arms" available?
  23. This topic has again served to emphasise the folly of the parochial approach some wildfowling clubs have followed for many years and continue to follow to this day....no one can join these clubs or even shoot their marshes as they are exclusively available to a few locals club members only (effectively a cheap syndicate!!)..........it worked years ago when the local club got the land for "tuppence ha'penny" but money talks nowadays and these parochial clubs will go under unless they adapt! 24. Just take the barrels or get them sent to the proofhouse for their opinion.......sorted! one way or the other.......end of! P1

    calls

Though I admit they can be very successful, the mouth callers I have heard in action sound nowt like a pink! so replicating a pink's call by mouth probably wouldn't work! LOL Think I'll stick with my Eddie Nixon call!!
