  1. well done fella you can always count on the spring rape to make a good bag had an 100 bird day on em meself 3 weeks ago wish farmers would grow more spring rape than they do
  2. shot pigeons meself over muckheaps.look a bit closer and you find weeds growing even rape growing out of em also seeds undigested grain fed to the cattle;well on the farm we shoot they are fed beans and rolled oats; then again not surprising why it is spread on land as fertaliser.
  3. your right it wont happen. but i bet the debate will go on and on.....
  4. wouldn;t recommend doing that unless you want a armed response unit on yer ****
  5. who ya gonna call?....M ROBSON thats who. no seriously thats some crow shooting or should i say corvid shooting
  6. still havent pulled the trigger on a bird on peas and thats 5 trips now lookin for em. 3 times i went didnt see a bird 1 time a dozen on em with no flightline coming in. yesterday found a few flighting but birds dropping in to any part of field and any tree they fancied i set up were i thought i might get a few.and i meen afew because there wasnt more than 50 in the 150 acre sea of peas.. sat for 30 mins and not a bird in sight so packed up and ******** off home thinking thats it gonna wait for some laid cereals and harvested barley;wheat; and rape lookin forward to the time. i have been getting quite a bit of shooting last few months on various crops but they have give me the run around on the peas this year but it just makes me more determined to get on terms with em when i get the chance and its not long before i do get the chance
  7. am doin mate off tomorra for a look not sayin i will score but as always say you never know and what a bag your mate had by the way.
  8. i would love to know the outcome of a survey something that has interested me for years and reckon it would open a few eyes and stop a debate that could go on for years because i think the survey would show a greater number of pigeons than the last survey. if taken into account woodpigeons that now live in towns near to agricultural land that foray out onto farm land to feed and ultimatley get shot from time to time. and can give a few examples we shot hundred pigeons on spring rape last week and we shot very near to a large council estate and a fair amount of woodpigeons not ferals. headed in from that direction admit there was 100s of acres of land in opposite direction but that had towns and villages dotted around and thats not a one off shot different areas of similar ilk and found the same. i for one would put a few quid in the pot to find out
  9. well done mate  thats the earliest bag i know of on laid cereals this year. although having said that most crops this year seem to be well on at moment with the good weather we had in april and may will be keeping an eye open now on any barley on me perms.
  10. you get pigeons on any patches that go over with rain and wind when the barley and wheat heads have formed properly and will feed on it until it is harvested.they love the wheat especially when it has that green tinge to it because it is soft and milky like m robson has said about barley and easy to digest and feed to any young birds on the nest had 100 bags on green laid wheat almost yearly.
  11. wuz wundering meself the other day that i had not seen any posts from you for a while.also i noticed you like using the truck as an hide do you not think your bags would be better with just a standard hide not critising at all just a thougt
  12. no not a dumb idea.that is the only time i would use steel if it matched up to lead used steel 10 years ago on ducks and wounded more birds than brought down.
  13. don;t know meself why anyone would. asking for trouble if you went out in the field with that gun you are asking for armed response units to to come calling.
  14. LOVELY LOOKIN DOG what breed is she looks like a cross breed?
  15. i;m not slating but BASC couldn;t have written or put a point across better than that
  16. you are right and i have shot all kinds meself.started with a 410 then a 20 bore single barrel. baikal s/b 12g. 2 berretas 12g. and currently settled on a miroku mk38 the only gun i have at moment and shot it at every thing in last 3 years and will never ever part with it.
  17. to answer your question a 12 or 20 bore are ideal for pigeons and any other quarry at that also last time i looked the price of shells were similar for both as said in last post 410 shells are expensive but it depends on how much shooting you would do with it an occasional pop at rabbits wouldn;t break the bank but a good at pigeons over decoys would.
  18. any way lads i;m leavin yer and nick and unclemicky if you want a pint or 2 say the word
  19. never happen always be a super leage team and yes love a pint or 2 with yer.
  20. cheers you widnes supporting st helens hating thing.then again you could have had a pop about us losing tonight but you wont do that will you
  21. you will get on with pro tom1 because he;s from lincs too and knows a thing or 2 about pigeons ask him for any advice. :
  22. also i didn;t add in this post always if you can use dead birds and have 2 in freezer at all times then take em out day before you go shooting so defrosted.and use on the rotary if not.foam to start until you get 2 down then change straight away.
  23. woodpigeon feathers would be far better than the street rat feathers you come across by that i mean feral pigeons that are full of disease and you dont have to pay for em because there is no market for woodpigeon feathers if that were the case we could all be in buisness
