  1. A friend of mine has not long had a stainless fluted .270 and it is very accurate. They seem like cracking guns.
  2. Good looking smoke pole I had the 682 gold years ago and loved it, it's one gun I really regret selling.
  3. This is my rifle, if anyone is interested or needing more pics just ask.
  4. I have to agree with Redgum, I have a remington and a tikka and my next centerfire will be a tikka.
  5. The warmest gloves I have worn are ones my granny made me out of Shetland wool which keep your hands warm even when wet but I can't shoot with them on. I hate shooting with any gloves on if I am honest.
  6. Smart looking gun Highbird.
  7. Great video, can I ask what camera you are using? I would love to get one for this next fowling season.
  8. For not much more than a howa you could have an a-bolt. Nothing wrong with howa, I have shot with one quite a lot but i prefer the browning. £500 for an a-bolt leaves you enough to get a second hand Schmidt scope or similar. I think the a-bolt comes with bases and rings and a spare magazine, might be wrong on that one.
  9. Nice looking set up. Keep us posted on how it performs on the range. Happy and safe shooting
  10. I haven't had any components entered on my license and I use expanding and target bullets. My license has been away 4-5 times since I started loading and entering it on the license myself, and no one has said a thing. The last time my license came back there was a note in saying that if I wanted to up my ammo purchase limit I just had to ask.
  11. I always enter what I load on my license so that they know how many rounds I am going through and where they are coming from.
  12. Well done, well placed shots too
  13. My BRNO also does well with eleys but I really can't be doing with the quantity of lube they use.
  14. My BRNO mod 2 went off winchester subs not long ago but I am getting on great with CCI subs now.
  15. I have had two shotgun barrels powder coated, one was a side by side the other a pump. Both guns were cheapo knock about guns. I got the pump from a salmon farm for £10, it was so rusty that the slide was stuck open and a cartridge couldn't fit in the chamber but after I cleaned it up it became my rough/fowling gun for 2-3 seasons. The powder coating lasted fine and the dull matt black didn't give off any glare. I did notice on the pump that to end up with the coating was wearing a bit at the muzzle but other than that it did fine and I had no trouble with the solder on the side by side.
  16. I marinaded some greylag goose last weekend for a BBQ we were invited to and for a first attempt it went down really well. I used 10 goose breasts which were sliced into 3 to make bits like frying steak then I gave them a bit of a pounding with a meat hammer and then marinaded the meat for 3-4 hours. Here is the easy recipe for the marinade, http://allrecipes.com/recipe/the-best-steak-marinade/ The only complaint I had was about the sinew running through the meat which is hard to avoid. I think the next time I try it I wont slice the breasts I will chunk them up into bite sized bits and put it on skewers with peppers and tomato. Apart from the sinew the meat was very tender and some people thought it was steak.
  17. Thanks for all the comments guys. They are both doing fine and had a good first night. welsh1 you had me checking how many ounces were in a pound , still 16 . Thanks again. Aister.
  18. Excellent . Happy and safe shooting Ace01.
  19. At five past one today my fantastic wife gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Lucille, 8lbs 14oz and as healthy as a horse. That is 3 boys and a girl I have now and couldn't be happier.
  20. Cracking fish, well done
  21. I think Kent nailed it. I use the ghg decoys and they work a treat for me because the only times I decoy ducks is late in the season when the birds are generally in full plumage and always through the day. I started off with tatty old decoys bought second hand as it was all I could afford but I have slowly built up a collection of ghg decoys in different postures and I would definitely say that in daylight hours they work better.
