  1. OH DEAR WHAT HAVE I DONE,i went to my local gunshop to get some .22rf,i normaly use eley's.My brno mod 2e loves them. The man in the shop hadn't got any and didn't know when there was a delivery,so i brought 500 winchester got them cheap cos he hadn't got what i wanted £25 which wasn't bad.I'm going to give them a go in the morning see what happens. Also brought a couple of boxes of .243 100grn winchester to try,he brought a load off another gun shop because they where in the old boxes people didn't want them.
  2. I'm in the same boat as you webber,i looked at them on ebay last night. As most of my rifle shooting is done at night from my car it would be ideal. It looks well made and practical and would do the job.
  3. Henry d ,i use a back packers stool from argos £7.99 along with washing poles £3.99 each.As for the bouncers i made my own out of a plastic garden cane a electrical connecter block and a metal coat hanger cost approx £5 for three
  4. I have worked in a slaughterhouse for the last 20yrs,The animals are treated with respect and care.If a slaughterman is caught mistreating a animal he can be prosecuted,we have a vet on site all the time we are killing along with meat inspecters.I think the main problem with supermarket meat is that it is proccessed within 24-36 hours after killing, where as the small slaughterhouses and butchers hang there meat for a while.A lot of our meat on the supermarket shelves comes from over seas and the quality isn't as good as ours in my opinion

    new bait

I've been making my own bait for approx 10yrs now.Nothing better than making a new bait and getting a result.
  6. In a couple of weeks time i've got a week off work,i'm going to build a few ash baths with covers over the top to try and keep interested.
  7. The feeders are approx 20yards from a small stream.Last year i only fed them by hand,it was a bit of a experiment to see how many birds where about. One afternoon i counted 40 birds in the near by field. Not a huge amount but very pleasing.
  8. I think it does,i want to try and attract as many wild birds as possible.I also put a combination of maize, beans, peas, sunflower seeds and other small seeds.I hand feed these on top of straw. My theory is that by putting a assortment of different sizes they will keep rooting around looking for food.I'm using spring feeders as well this year so they have a food supply 24 7.
  9. Thanks for the replys,i will be filling the feeders with wheat and loose feeding around the area by hand with wheat and pigeon mix (a mix of seeds and particles which smell of aniseed)
  10. On one of the farms i shoot the farmer has given me permission to put some feeders down in a couple of small spinneys.Me and the farm workers are allowed to shoot it.I have got some large buckets with lids to make into feeders, problem is how high do i make the spring feeders from the ground ?
  11. Well done mate. The common looks a bit like a ghostie.Lets hope thats the beginning of many carp.Carp fishing is like pigeon shooting very addictive.
  12. I always get my knives smooth sharp,by doing this you are cutting rather than tearing. Also if possible try to sharpen your knife as regular as you can. When i am using my knife at work i might only make 3-4 cuts before i give it a quick steel to bring the edge back
  13. LB,the palomar knot is completley different knot to the knotless knot. 1.Double your hooklink material and pass the loop through the eye of your hook 2.Now tie a over hand knot 3.Now pass your hook through the loop 4.Now moisten line and pull knot down This is bulky knot so it isn't realy suitable for light lines
  14. If you haven't got a gun to hand you could always stone it' I'll have two round ones a couple of flat ones and a bag of gravel please'
  15. Looks VERY nice can't wait to see the end product
  16. Pluckers son,i use the knotless knot (no joke i've been carp fishing for 15yrs) 1.Tie a small loop in your hooklink material, this will be to put your bait stop in. 2.Pass the other end through the back of the eye on your hook, leaving a tail as long as you want you hair to be,approx 1cm 3.Whip the line around the shank of the hook, making sure that each turn lays side by side at least 8 times or until you are level with the point of your hook. 4.Pass the line back through the back of the hook, make sure the whipping stay in place and make sure you pass it through the back of the hook. This will make your hook kick out and get a better hook hold. Hope that makes sense
  17. My badge came today very nice,is it limited to one badge per member ?
  18. Kingratcatcher, opinel knives are very soft metal by puting it on a grindstone you could do more harm than good, get your self a rough and smooth oilstone.Start with the rough stone lay the blade flat on it then lift it to approx 30 degrees and draw it backwards and forwards GENTLY then do the same on the other side. When you are happy with that move to the smooth stone and do the same with a bit of practice you will get the knack.

    Reloading

Thanks nick, thats what the man in the shop told him but we wasn't sure. With the way the prices are going i'm thinking of giving it a look.See how my mate gets on first,i've got fingers like sausages so if it's to fiddly i will give it a miss
  20. NO i'm fed up with turning the telly on picking the paper up and all you see is these pretty boys who get loads of money for 90 minutes work. How long would they last in your local village team ? that is proper football bone breaking, studding, fighting then down the pub for a shed full of beer if your lucky you might see a goal scored
  21. A mate of mine has looked into reloading cf ammo, how does this work on your fac. When you buy factory loaded you have to get all the details filled in on your fac.Do you do the same but individual ie primers, heads, cases, powder
  22. Like bertie says 'don't press too hard' you are shaping the edge not removing metal. If you push too hard all you do is keep bending the edge over.I've worked in a slaughterhouse for 20yrs now the first thing i had too do was sharpen a knife before i was allowed near a carcase.A master slaughterman told me to treat the knife with care and respect. When using a oil stone get a gentle rythym going and when using a steel do the same

I sent my cheque sent pm's to teal and henry d ,no badge no reply
  25. When i sharpen my knives the first thing i do is put them on a grindstone the smoothest side. When i have the angle i require i then move on to a oil stone again a smooth one to remove any burrs. Then when im happy that all the burrs are removed i then steel it on a smooth steel. When you are using a stone or steel don't put to much presure on the blade. You are shaping the blade not trying to remove any metal.A sharp knife is a safe knife, when you use a blunt knife you put more pressure on it, there for you will have less control over it
