  1. Me too , up here we have the Northeast Gals, a great group who are a pleasure to coach and be with generally
  2. Times change , sports are popular then decline, be thankful for what is achievable because it might not be there tomorrow
  3. That really brings it all into perspective. He would have known the prize structure before entering . Arrogance personified.
  4. I had a Border terrier pup I bred returned to me as the new owners vet diagnosed a heart murmur . I returned their money and gave the pup to a friend who had heard about the problem. That dog lived until it was 16 years old.
  5. When I'm coaching a novice lady the first thing they usually say is the gun is much heavier than I thought it would be.
  6. My experience is that the issue with a lady having her first shot is as much about the weight of the gun , as the strength of the cartridge .
  7. For all beginners, whether male or female, 21 grams for first lesson, until they are used to the experience
  8. Too right they wouldn't I had a day on extreme pheasants on a "High bird shoot " The bag for the day was over 300 but I didn't see more than a dozen fold up, one to my gun.The gun next to me was using 50 grams of no. 3 shot out of full and full chokes and shot 5 for 65 shots on one drive. He was introduced to me as one of the best shots to have shot there. Definitely an experience but one I shall not repeat..
  9. Very much personal preference but I prefer longer barrels , 32 for me. I greatly improved my shooting after buying a 32 inch Perrazzi and I'm not the tallest at 5ft8ins but that gun just feels right to me.
  10. Your biggest problem is finding someone with a bitch who would like to use your dog.
  11. No barracking from me either, my great uncle was a very matcho man and a great dancer. It was he who started me off shooting.
  12. Obviously not improved in the past 20 years. Having being burgled I went to replace my music centre. I saw a more recent model and asked the salesman what was the difference between the two systems, he said the more recent had bigger speakers. I asked did that mean more powerful, he returned to say no just bigger. He obviously had no knowledge whatsoever and I left and haven't been back since.
  13. 5ft 7ins, short,32 inch perrazzi. The best gun I've ever had and the best Results I've had in both game and clays. I shot in many spaniel field trials with that gun without complaint. I much prefer longer barrelled guns as I prefer the weight balanced that way but shoot with a gun you are comfortable with and have confidence in.
  14. Jane has lived in Canada for several years now. Contact the secretary of any of the breed clubs and they will help to find a pup. Google border terrier breed clubs and you will find a list
  15. beware of the man with one gun, he's usually a good shot
  16. Had a similar experience a few years ago, Lamb with a cheese sauce. Totally a wrong combination but I put it down to me, I should have realised they wouldn't combine well.
  17. The beneficiary of a legacy will receive that amount in full, the expenses and legal costs are paid out of the residual amount, assuming there are sufficient funds to pay out the legacies.
  18. As a retired carpet and flooring retailer, definitely skirting first. Good advice from above.
  19. That's really good news.I was in a similar position 16 years ago so know exactly what you've been through. 16 years on and all is well with my wife as I'm sure it will be with yours. All the very best
  20. Yep Once you've taken a life how can you judge. I 'm not interested I that kind of shooting but wouldn't condem until I knew the full facts
  21. A very good suggestion, skeet covers all the angles. I would agree with the other advice given above regarding having a lesson but the offer of taking you out shouldn't be missed. A friend of mine took up pigeon shooting and came to me with basically the same story as the OP. I took him to our local clay ground on the skeet to see if I could help, he thought the skeet targets were very close so I asked him where he was taking his shots at pigeon, he pointed to the bottom of a slope in the ground 70 meters away!!!!!!
  22. If your going to the trouble of putting on chili , why don't you just pick it up instead ! There are no solutions to this problem you just have to be aware when the dog is transgressing and let the dog know it is not acceptable. This has nothing to do with a lack of something in diet all carnivores will do it given the chance, some more than others, just don't give the dog the chance.
